Today I pulled the vacuum out to do a quick floor clean up, Buddy had ventured out and was exploring the window (YAY). I turned the vacuum on and OH BOY!!! He ran over to me and jumped on my shoulder! I vacuumed, talked to him, everything said was answered with a happy answer. He was a very puffy green, vibrating happy bird, dry showering while I vacuumed, lol! He made chores fun today. I am so glad he is exploring.

Does anyone vacuum with their Amazon? Buddy loves the sound of the vac.

Julio is not a great friend of the Vaccuum, especially if he is close to it. That does not mean that he not a nut from the moment it is switched on to the last moment of its use. He moves too a high spot and displays, verbalizes, puffs-up and stands tall (Big Bird) and of course spins those flashing orange eyes!

Grab the camera and he shuts it all down in a moment.

Amy could care less about the vacuum. BB on the other hand gets very animated about it with his arms up high and giving it hell lol. Smokey would sit on the top of her house and fluff up as big as she could, and if I got close to her house, she'd lunge and call the vacuum names

My bird name is buddy too. He goes to his water dish and has a bath but only when i turn on the vacuum. Very odd. Im giving him. Misty water sprays to get him cool but hes backing away from it. he ll go to his dish and put his head in and have a great splashing bath.

My Bingo goes into his Stevie wonder dance when I use the vacuum.
I don't think I would let him ride my shoulder while doing it.

Try misting in the air above him and letting it rain down on him.

Kiwi definitely responds to the vacuum, but is not really fond of riding on shoulders therefore remains happily on his cage or swing. Typically, he celebrates me vacuuming with either a bath in his water dish or just doing his big flashy amazon dance (not to be confused with the amazon dance of death) on the top of his cage and making funny grunts and squeals when I come close.

If I have the hoover on, or sometimes even brushing up, Enzo will scream/growl at me and quite possibly attack. If others in the house use the hoover Enzo will definitely attack, no question. She is absolutely terrified of them, even walking past the hoover if not stored away will cause her to growl. There is definitely something that happened in her past, nothing else gets her acting like this.

search youtube for Lucy, the African Grey scream/growl to get an idea of the noise she makes although Enzo does this much louder and with a lot of panic in her voice.

Salty , like Amy, could care less about the vaccume cleaner. Now give him a nice fast Baptist style gospel song he start singing with it.

If he’s super chatty when the vacuum is turned on, you can use that to get phrases on cue :)

Turning on the vacuum in our house immediately results in almost all our birds (Sammy, my YNA included) bathing industriously in their water dishes.

No idea why...

I love how they all react differently! I had a GCC who would perch on my shoulder whenever i vacuumed the house. He loved it. Here, we don’t have carpets so we aren’t vacuuming, just sweeping and mopping. I have a feeling Kevin would play the big bad bird if a vacuum was in the picture.

Haha I saw this and thought of this thread right away. Looks like Timneh is prepared to step up and take over some of the choirs herself.
