This is our first year with our Bourke Parakeet.  During the summer we take an extended vacation (2-3 weeks) up to Flagstaff to stay in my mother in law's house.  We want to take our Bourke up with us and have her stay at her house as well.  We do have a travel cage (20-Inch by 12-1/2-Inch by 15-1/2-Inch) which we would use to transport her.  We are considering buying a larger cage for her at the Mother-in-Law's house.  So, here are my questions!
1. Would a travel cage be ok to use as her primary cage for 2-3 weeks?
2. Any tips to acclimate her for the car ride (2 hours)?
3. Any tips to acclimate her to a new temporary environment?
Or, we could ask our neighbor who has experience with birds (our bird stayed at their house for a week on an earlier trip).
Any general advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
