1 B&G Macaw - Frankie
I'm going on vacation at the end of August and plan to take Frankie with me. While I have something for her to ride in car, I'd like some advice on getting a well-designed collapsible or very easy to assemble cage that I can use in the house we're staying at while on vacation. I don't plan for Frankie to be in the cage much at all while we're there, but if we happen to need to leave her alone I want something to keep her safe. Any suggestions? I don't want something huge since I expect she'll mostly just be sleeping in it. I'm taking her other perches along for her to use, but a decent "vacation home" for her would be very handy.

Might be to late, but I used a wire dog crate as a travel kennel. They make many sizes.

What did you use? I have been using a wire dog crate, but am looking for something better that has a grate. I found a wire cage with a removable grate, but I am having difficulty paying $190 for it considering I would only use it 2x a year.

I think the problem is going to be finding one long enough for your Macaw's tail feathers so they don't get broken when he moves around.

I have a travel/collapsing bird cage from Drs Foster and Smith that Gilbert uses when we go away, but my bird's tail is not nearly as long as yours. You may be able to find a collapsing crate for a large dog breed though.

The Celltei is awsome. I got a carry-sized one for Diamond in gold complete with personalized embroidery.

I find it to be much like a human's camping tent, due to the roll-up window flaps. You can see from the illustration on that page how the whole thing unzips, and it can be folded flat.
