I am sure this has been talked about on this forum in the past. I will search the history for more ideas. However I am thinking of really small kongs, etc for my hahns macaw. I also sometime see rope dog toys that would lool like they might be nice rope hanging perches

Copper's right about being cautious.....toys don't fall under the pervue of any government regulatory agency, so there's no telling what might be in rope toys made for dogs.....but then they well could have been manufactured on the same assembly line as those for birds.....

The toy you posted actually looks like it would be a whole lot of fun. :D

If you use it, make sure and inspect it daily for frays and loose fabric and cut those off, so nails can't get stuck in there. All my fids have (cotton) rope perches and/or boings, and as long as I snip away loose and frying pieces, I have less worries.

Sisal IS a preferred product. It breaks away much easier than cotton.

Niko's favorite Kong toy is this one:

I often buy dog toys for Merlin but I check the fabric on them for suitability. Like Weco said - we don't know what goes on with the manufacturing but then again, we don't often for birds either. I won't buy him anything that comes scented, or with a squeaker inside. Rope toys like above, or anything like a 'chew' toy (such as Kong toys) that he just loves to get his beak around and chomp. :)

I find the dog chew toys are hardier than the ones made for parrots so I replace them less often ;)

..... as long as I snip away loose and frying pieces, I have less worries.

Do you use salt & pepper to keep things tasty.....maybe a bit of spice/peppers to keep things interesting, Wendy ? ? ?

I think wendy meant she cuts fraying pieces off not frying weco, but I could be wrong haha
