We are leaving tomorrow morning for a camping trip with all the birds and we have a lot of citronella candles to put around the campsite. Is citronella safe for birds to be around?

I'm not sure about citronella candles but be careful if you let them play outside there cage. I had Mollys cage on the picnic table while we were playing cards and eating. She was in her cage most of time well I let her out on outside cage for about 20 min while we were sitting there.(flight feathers cut). Luckily we saw something move in nearby trees - a hawk!! It was spying on her. As soon as we put her back in cage the hawk flew away! We were lucky. Good luck

So, would it be safe to say that any insect repellant, natural oils or otherwise, is dangerous for birds? I often wear the Off Clip On, but I'm just going to stay inside during peak mosquito hours (and so is Baxter)!

Shawna, I found nothing that says Off Clip On is 'safe' to use around birds, nor did I find the opposite. But then I searched for active ingredient(s) for the product, which is some type of neurotoxin. So, I would never use it around my fids.

I did some research on the clip on ingredients and came to the same conclusion as you, Wendy! I am so glad this subject came up as it wasn't even close to being on my "radar screen"!
