So a few weeks ago a got a new baby BCC and after being quarantined I've begun introducing her to my flock. She's in a cage next to them, I thought it would be a bit crazy for her but she doesn't seem overwhelmed at all and is now friends with my other BCC.
I have her out on her own letting her bond with me and get used to her new home and she landed on my Hahns macaw's cage (the side not top, top is covered). He proceeded to go for her feet, I got her off as quick as I could but he has obviously hurt her - she didn't scream which I thought was unusual - but she is now limping. There was no blood and not much to see, there's a small tear on the top of her foot but no obvious deformation.
It's been 24 hours and she's still not really putting weight on it, she can't hop so she is technically 'putting weight on it' but not really.
Normally I would have gone to the vet this morning but obviously in the current climate I can't just run off to the vet. My usual avian vet is doing consultations but a member of my family is showing symptoms of COVID-19 and I think it would be wrong for me to potentially spread anything I may be carrying, they're doing a limited number of phone consultations but I haven't yet managed to get through.
To go through her behaviours again:
-limping quite bad
-no blood
-no visual deformation
-lets me touch her toes without biting or anything (which she is not opposed to doing!)
-is eating, drinking and bathing everyday
I think she's broken one of her toes, but I have no idea! She doesn't look in pain but I've heard birds are very good at hiding this, and I hate to think she is in pain.
Any advice?! I know it should be vet trip but I'll need to be careful, anyone have any idea how much this costs? It's not a factor on going or not but it's the end of the month and I don't have loads of money so I'll have to go into my savings (which is completely fine)
Thank you
