2 weeks ago I posted about our baby Maximillion (Maxi) who has a deformed wing and promised an update. Thanks to everyone that responded to the post.
Maxi is 6 weeks now and thriving. We had her at our Avian vet. She had never seen a bird with such a strange deformity. The last section of her wing had not grown through so basically it's a tiny bone under the skin of the upper wing. Sadly she will most probably never fly but she now has her balance and gets around her (large) cage with gusto. She quickly realized the value of her beak. We need to go back every 2 weeks to evaluate her situation such as balance etc.
Probably my imagination but she is potty trained too, never poops on us and when we put her in the cage and tell her to poop she does. She is very spoilt and loves to be hugged and cuddled.
We have done a lot of research on disabled birds, some of the stories are so inspiring.
Strange really, the woman that we got her from informed us that she was required to remove the ad from Gumtree as she put it up as the babies were not weaned. If I hadn't seen the ad as it was posted we would never have seen the ad at all and Maxi may never have been ours.
Maxi was clearly destined for us!
