Baby is doing great! When we got her 3 Weeks ago she was a very scared girl. She had not had a cage and was living on a wire perch in a laundry room. She had had most of her tail feathers and wing feathers chewed off by the previous owners dogs. Very sad situation that once we saw her we had to leave with her right then. We lucked out! We got her a very large A&E cage which she watched us build. While we were building it she was all over it! Very excited and we have NO issues getting her in or out of it. Off the top is another story but that's playtime for her. She's very quiet most of the time unless she sees people walk by the house. She talks to my son, plays with my wife, and regurgitates (acts like it) around me. She complains when we get her to step up but not any biting. She likes showers but LOVES the hairdryer. Her favorite game is to take pieces of food and "bomb" the cats when they scavenge the base of the perch stand. My only concern is her quietness. Anyways...... We couldn't be happier. It was scarey at first because we read so many bad things about adopting "problem" birds. I will always say that saving Baby was the best thing that could have happened for her.

Thank you for taking her out of there! Isn't it great how they seem to know that you are rescuing them? I've had several jump into my arms when I've come to take them away from a bad situation. Even biters, and unsocial birds. You've obviously improved her life, and she knows it!

Awesome!!

So great to hear such a story of a Fid being taken out of a negative environment and being taken in to a family environment!!

Thank you for saving this poor soul , the description of her former "life" is horrible to say the least. Thank goodness you have her now.
The stories I have been reading about adoptions has really opened my eyes to thinking differently about it. I am afraid of getting into something i may not be educated enough to handle. I dont consider myself a expert on parrot behavioral issues or health issues , so I would be petrified of adopting one that ends up with something I couldnt handle and i would have to rehome again and add to the poor souls misery. I just couldnt live with myself.
There , I said it , I got it off my chest so to speak.

I appreciate the kind words from all of you. We were very nervous about adopting her because we were certain she would have issues. I think what helped us decide to do it, other than seeing her there and not being able to walk away, is that even if we would have not been able to keep her and had to take her to a rescue, it was better than where she was. Speaking of which, she just woke up and is letting me know the neighbors are outside, and it's time for her breakfast! NOW! I love it!
