Congo African Grey
Well I wasn't expecting it but I've rescued an African grey that I already love. He allows me to feed him and stroke his beak. I did have to birdie burrito him to get him into his travel cage today but he didn't fight or try to bite. I just love him. I've had greys before for years and am so happy to have this guy. A male, good feather condition, already chatting and eating. I'm getting a great cage this evening. Looking for a name now... Suggestions? Also, all advice appreciated...:D I want to post a pic but am trying to figure out how as my picture allowance is full with my pictures of our green cheek Peep.

Wow! Your new friend is absolutely stunning! Congratulations!

You might want to try photobucket or one of the other image hosting sites.

Congratulations! He is beautiful:)

Gorgeous Grey! Congrats :). So what's the story of how you happened to get him unexpectedly?

For photos, many of us use a free Photobucket account. It's very easy to use. Or... You can always get a premium membership which has larger photo capacity ;).

Gotta figure out photobucket!

A friend of mine knew I love greys and would have another in a heartbeat. Another friend here works are our local animal contology. She told me often good greys come through the shelter and don't last a day after they go up for adoption. I told her to keep me in mind. Yesterday, she lets me know of one in great condition, hand raised, that was up for adoption. I couldn't get everything together in time and then poof he was off the list. Then, I was called to my husbands office, these two friends had gotten him for me!

Not much history except from the band we found out he was hand raised. He hasn't been aggressive although I did have to birdie burrito him to get him back into the carrier. What a sweet guy!

Names are still being accepted...

Zen
Zed
Zorro

Any others?

He goes for a check today even though the shelter had him checked.

Had to share photos...I found out quite by accident he is hand tame already, knows how to step up, and seems to really enjoy company. Grapes help too.

He is such a handsome guy! Lucky you:D

I like the name Zen personally.

That bird is in really good feather.

Just out of curiousity how much does this one weigh?!

This one looks more like the "normal" coastal CAGS to me.

His feathers are darker than Tusk's and he looks like he's in the 425-ish range.

He weighs, you're right Birdman, 426ish. He is in great feather and so very handleable. It was strange how he got the the animal shelter. The person who hand raised him works at the shelter and when she looked up the number on his band couldn't believe he was one of hers! He was held at the shelter for the hold period and was not claimed (found abandoned, so sad). He's already allowing me to hold him and feed him. He is a bit put off with me for having him bathed and nails trimmed. I did lightly clip the wings this time but will let them grow out in the next molt.

We have decided on the name "Iago" like the parrot from Aladdin the Disney movie!

Yes he is a normal CAG according to the info we have gathered from the lady who bred him.

Soooo thankful! Can't wait to see him open and develop in relationship with us.
