threads i have read keep switch that they have new posts (even when i am the last one who posted...)

threads i haven't even seen yet that only have the original post are saying i have read them.

AND i can't use the "mark forums as read" function.

Feeling a little bit dazed and confused about this LOL :52:

This is the message i get when i try to mark forums as read:

Odd.

Is anyone else (who happens to read this) having similar issues?

I'll try to look into it - but I'm not yet sure where to start.

I have firefox and chrome and it has been doing it on both :/ I don't know if maybe it has to do with me running linux and not windows maybe? but i dunno its weird and i don't see how my OS would interfere with it it. :/

That's strange.... I don't remember ever setting anything specifically to show me already read forums, it just does it anyway. If it's unread mine shows "bold" font, and if read, it's not bold.

yea mine is being bold when it shouldnt and not bold when it should be :/

I'm running Arch Linux here with chromium - I haven't had any of these issues so I doubt it's an OS difference.

Our forum software is vBulletin - I don't know much about it, but it seems to have it's own pretty good forums. It seems this issue has been raised before:
Mark Forums Read problem - vBulletin.org Forum

And the linked (alleged) solution here:
https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/sho...Error-on-Mark-Forums-Read-for-vBulletin-3.8.5

I just took a quick look, but it looks like this was a site-wide problem in this case that had to be fixed by the admins, not a user-specific problem so this solution may not apply if others are not having similar problems.

I'll keep digging a bit.

One potentially relevant point from that discussion
If [users] are not allowing javascript/ajax then [read/unread marker] can fail in a couple of places
Can you check this on your end? Is javascript working normally for you on other sites?

EDIT: ensure you have the icedTea chrome plugin. You can check by typing "About: plugins" (without the space, but the darn space is needed or the : and p become :p) in the address bar of chrome and it should be listed, enabled, and up to date.

OK so far tonight i have:

Uninstalled ANY possible Java anythign onmy computer installed icedtea, didn't work, uninstalled icedtea. installed sun java, didn't work switched back to iced tea.

I tried in BOTH firefox and chrome.

Switched to the desktop (which runs windows)

I.E., Chrome, AND Firefox ALL won't work to mark forums read.

-_- i feel a lost cause after 2 hours of nothing working :/

Mine reads the same as Rio Mom......

Thanks for your assistance AD, too confusing for me !!!!

Mines doing the same, some bold when they shouldn't be etcetc.

I'm just scrolling through them all and hoping it just fixes itself :D

Can you tell me more about your setup?

I haven't used windows in over a decade so I can't be of help there. Is your linux machine running Ubuntu - or which distro?

Did you use a package manager to install icedTea or the sun java plugin (ie apt-get if you are using Ubuntu)? Did you activate the plugin in the browser?

Does your browsers allow cookies - do you have any firewall that may not allow them?

EDIT: also which versions of icedTea of Java were you running? for the linux machine did you update the package indexes before installing (ie apt-get update).

I can see the wavey moving text.

The 2 set ups i run are:

1)Ubuntu (whatever that newest release was called)
Runs Icedtea for java i run all installs through my terminal.
It is enables in chrome and firefox. neither work.

2) Windows 7, Newest sun java version is installed, and enabled.

I can see the wavey text on both computers and in ALL the browers (chrome firefox and IE)
