Two Ringneck Parrots
A boy and a girl. Got them from a parrot shop as turn-ins. The boy has a leg band the girl does not. They said that based on their size they are most probably African Ringnecks vs Indian Ringnecks but honestly I can't tell the difference. They said that the band probably means he was caught wild and she was people raised. Based on this and the species they told me not to expect much from the boy. They were reselling them as a pair - the boy for free - since they came in that way. That was a couple of years ago. I renamed them Popeye and Olive because their original names were in a different language. Actually, my first name for him was Brutus but I quickly decided not to make him live down to it. So I decided on Popeye instead. The name Olive is based purely on color.

Welcome! I have never seen the African Ringnecks in the pet trade, that would be a special deal! I also have two ring necks, they are names Blue and Scout and I adore them :)

One way you can tell the difference is the beak coloring. African Ring Necks have darker beaks--looking more black while IRNs have bright red beaks. That's for the "regular" ones, however. I'm not sure about the differences between the blue mutations.
