We will be welcoming two new fids on Saturday (see my thread in Cockatoos) we were only going to take in Chiquita (Cockatoo) at first, but have decided to take both.
So we will be welcoming Junior to the flock, he (not DNA'd, so this could change) is aprox 16 yrs old, and is timid from what his Mom says.
What can I do to make his transition easier? Chiquita has been to our house for a visit, and settled right in and made herself at home. However, I know that Grey's have a harder time with change.
This is what I was thinking, but never having shared my home with a Grey, I could be way off base....
Place his cage in our bedroom where he can have some peace and quiet...sit with him, and talk and play with toys, so that he gets to know us... I will leave the TV on when we are not in the room, so that he has stimulation....leave the cage door open when we are with him, so he can decide if/when he wants to come out and perhaps interact with us.
Any and all suggestions are welcome.
