Mickey - Female U2 age unknown. DNA test came back...he is a SHE,

Tinker 12 yr old female GCC

Chiquita 16 yr old Female U2 and Junior 16 yr old Male Grey
We will be welcoming two new fids on Saturday (see my thread in Cockatoos) we were only going to take in Chiquita (Cockatoo) at first, but have decided to take both.

So we will be welcoming Junior to the flock, he (not DNA'd, so this could change) is aprox 16 yrs old, and is timid from what his Mom says.

What can I do to make his transition easier? Chiquita has been to our house for a visit, and settled right in and made herself at home. However, I know that Grey's have a harder time with change.

This is what I was thinking, but never having shared my home with a Grey, I could be way off base....
Place his cage in our bedroom where he can have some peace and quiet...sit with him, and talk and play with toys, so that he gets to know us... I will leave the TV on when we are not in the room, so that he has stimulation....leave the cage door open when we are with him, so he can decide if/when he wants to come out and perhaps interact with us.

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Congratulations ! I haven't read the Cockatoo post yet , but I thought I would send my welcome new fids first :)
How exciting for you :). What is Mickey and Tinker feeling about having new siblings ?
Bet their just as excited :).
But the real question is , will Mickey share his Yellow Tang with them ?

Thank you!

Mickey was curious but relaxed when she met Chiquita, so the hope is that they will get on well ;)

Tinker just "cussed" the whole time....but that's what she does....lol :20:

Sadly Mickey no longer has her Yellow Tang.....I sold the tank to make room for more cages...:D

I'm sure they will all get on well once everyone is settled :)
Aww , sorry about Mickey's Tang , but it sounds like something I would do , lol.
I would do anything for my birds :). I would sell furniture , knock down walls
whatever ,lolol. I have three HUGE cages in my Family, TV room , and the leet cage is up on the landing to the next floor , lololol. Then there is the air purifiers ,etc.....
Just for the birds :).
Who needs furniture or a nicely furnished room :/

Exactly!!! I am bugging hubby to add a room (ok aviary) on the back of the house.......he's starting to come around....lol He is just as in love if not moreso with the fids......

And yeah I just ordered a HUGE amount of toys/perches/food (the tank sale helped finance this) so the new babies wouldn't be jealous of the current babies.......I may have a little problem with fid shopping....lmao ;)

You too ?? I cant even go on a birdy website and not shop , then I
end up going just a little over board ,lololol.
I get Xmas and holiday, birthday cards from all the birdy stores now ,lololol.
My hubby is on board for anything ! Im usually the one that has to reel him in !!
We would have an unbeleivable amount of horses , goats , alpacas , Birds !!
Ever since we started to re build the small tack room , he has stars in his eyes looking to
re build the big bar next year !! OMG !

Isn't it great that they love it as much as us???

That is so awesome! I've turned my bf into a bird lover too, course he didn't have a choice since they turn insideout for him. Can't wait to see some photos, I gotta go find your other post!
