Great Thing Numero Uno: The Socialization Kyleigh Experienced Today

She did an absolutely outstanding job today. She spent the night last night and I thought it would be a good idea to bring her to work with me. This is what happened.

She was tame, easy going, and everyone got the chance to hold her. No children were bit in the process of taking these pictures.

Great Thing Numero Dos

The second great thing completely surprised. Nonetheless, Kyleigh flew today! I had food for her, and instead of walking to it..she squated, squawked, and flew to her food.

Today has been an awesome day for the two of us.

And her cage arrives today. I'll take pictures and post later!

The third great thing is socializing them, like this, at this young an age, is generally what patterns them to behave this way for life... and not only, not fear interaction with strangers, but actually ENJOY IT.

So are you a teacher then? That's awesome she got to meet new people and the kids all got to interact with a friendly parrot. She looks like she's loving all the attention! You are really going to have a bird for life with how you've been raising her. You're doing a great job

I'm so happy for both of you! Two great firsts for one day! That level of socialization is incredible. And with the high amperage of children, Kyleigh's composure was most impressive. Great job, Stephen!

And as for the flying, didn't I tell you the flying would just happen all of a sudden? Now please go and get a harness on that girl! Don't go getting us all attached to her, only to have her fly off on you.

Thanks folks! We have already started harness training. No more outside with out it from here on out. I am ready for life with a fully flighted bird here soon.
