Twice in a lifetime...

Those of you that have read any of my threads know that when I was younger I had a YNA that chose me and no one else to love. He was very special to me and losing him was one of the hardest things I have had to deal with. Mystic has been so fun to have as a baby and see all the things with Karma I didn't get to see.

A friend of mine has been looking for a new feathered member to add to her household for a few months now and has dragged me along because she knows how much experience I have with birds. So far we have gone to some pretty abysmal places and I have gotten very upset with some of the conditions I have seen, as well as people down right lying about the condition or temperament of the bird. She has been looking at amazon's. She wasn't set on a certain species so we have gone and looked at a few.

Yesterday we drove a long way to look at a Nape. We stopped at a petstore where they had an older Red Lored that really liked my friend. When we went to see the Nape he/she did NOT like her but yes you guessed it LOVED ME!!! The owner really wanted me to take him since he had not responded like that to anyone else and she had to re-home him. I only had $100.00 on me and I am limited to how much I can pull per day at the atm and explained this to her. She didn't care and said she would take less so that he went to someone he was comfortable with so after a trip to the atm he came home with me. He didn't want to get off me, sang to me and showed off in every way. It felt a little like when Karma fell in love with me so twice in my lifetime now I have had an amazon choose me. How lucky can a girl get.:D

What a beautiful new addition! Lucky you:D Have you chosen a name or are you waiting on a DNA test?

Did your friend decide on the red lored that liked her? EVERYBODY needs an amazon to liven things up in their home;)

I think I am going to wait to give a name until I DNA, the name he had I am not crazy about (high school ex boyfriend name).:p

Yes, she did get the Red Lored, I told her if she gets any more itches for parrots I was NOT coming with her...my house is full!:D You should have heard me explaining this to my husband on the phone yesterday, I barely got into explaining and he says "It loves you and you are bringing it home right?" then laughed, then said "Great another bird who will hate me" although that does not appear to be the case and he/she stepped up great for Don last night.:D

OOOOOH Laura, Brady is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!! GORGEOUS nape! :D

I can SO see how you couldn't pass him up. This IS your second love story right there. :D

Wendy I know you liked the name when I told you but don't get used to calling him that please, I have NO good memories of that name and so far I have not heard him say it. So I am going to keep listening if he/she says it then I will pick something that sounds close, if not then once I get sexing done I will pick a new one.

Wow, that's so amazing! And what a gorgeous bird! I can only imagine how active your house is right now, hahaha :D

Wow!! How amazing is that!!! Love at first sight! Your flock is rapidly growing LOL

The name "Chance" comes to mind- for giving him another chance at a happy life and you just happened to go to the store by chance [emoji6]

i never had that experience, seeing as my parents bought them as surprises.
I hope so one day.
But what a great shop owner, she really cares about the birds,i haven't seen that here.
I wish you luck, you have gotten a great gift.

Birds pick their people, and those are the best ones... because they end up being the most bonded and interactive.

Congrats on being picked again...

Congratulations on the beautiful YN! :D It will be interesting to see how different your two Napes are when Mystic grows up.
Nice that your husband is pretty easy going about more birds huh? I bet he was thrilled that this bird liked him lol. Mine is named Don too :)

Mystic is very sweet, they have heard each other and seen each other from a distance and all seemed fine. Mojo on the other hand did NOT respond well. I will be posting about that in a little while.:(

Oooooohhhhhhhh you are in trouble now, lol!!!

Congrats Laura on yet another gorgeous addition to your flock:)
