this morning Tundra deposited another blood clot:eek:

I took the sample with me to see Evan this morning along with her 'shell less' egg....
he was not surprised by the egg part AT ALL, but rather concerned with another deposit of blood from this morning.

As we talked he concluded that the clot from this morning was no more than 'left over' from the day before.

He weighed her, she's 97grams, she is exactly the same weight as the day I got her.

He gave her a double injection of Lupron which virtually shuts down the hormones to produce eggs....she was due to lay another one tomorrow.
that should work for approximately 6 weeks.

In the mean time I was inquiring about Tie-Dye(aka rainbow) my 'red-suffusion lovebird"....I snuck her into the truck with Tundra....my husband was working from home today, of course of all days!!

I wanted them to do some blood work to confirm any liver/kidney issues, which may be a direct result due to her neon colouring or red.

A technician took her to the back to withdraw blood, while Evan examined Tundra.

they could not get any blood out of Tie-Dye, her vein ballooned when they inserted the needle and they had to stop. he said that happens only to 1/50 birds.

While I was paying the bill,Evan came out to talk to me about Tundra, he looked over at Tie-Dye, and she seemed quite weak....he took her to the back room and gave her an injection of IV solution to perk her up....she returned back to normal, thank goodness....no charge

I'll take her back in January/February sometime and request Evan to withdraw the blood this time.

Evan did say he rather doubts she is red-suffusion, due to her colouring reversing while I have had her, rather than increasing, in such a short period of time.
He said you typically see red sufusion in OLDER lovebirds with increasing red, not decreasing as a result of liver issues... He seems to think she is under the age of 5 years.:D

all in all a huge relief:D:D:D

Thank God, Beth!!!!! I now have THE biggest smile on my face!!! :)

I know you were worried sick - about both of them!

So happy that Tundra will be just fine!!!! You must be feeling beyond relieved!!!

How scary that they couldn't get blood from Tie-Dye. Hmm...I wonder if they tried to get her jugular in the neck??? They probably didn't want to stress her any further. You are doing a MARVELOUS job with Tie-Dye...and ALL your fids!

You are an exemplary parront!!!

MANY MANY hugs to you!!!

...now go get some fishies into the tank. ;)

Thank goodness! I am so happy that you finally have good news, you so deserved some! So thrilled for Tundra and Tie-Dye! This post made my day:)

Well Crimson if Tie-Dye's coloring is natural and she is healthy - breed her and allow me to have one of the babies! I WANT ONE TOO! lol She's just so pretty. I'm glad Tundra is doing well too - so all in all you were due for some good news and I'm glad you got it.

I knew she would be okay! So happy for you!

Let the dance party commence!

At least that's some good news!!!!! I'm glad everything went well....

I am very happy to learn Tundra is going to be alright. I was confused why she would pass the soft egg and not have it developed all the way. Is this going to be the norm for her when she is in breeding mode? I wonder if you will have to give her the Lupon injections for her hormones for the rest of her breeding life.

I have always been afraid to get a female parrot for a companion. I had a friend who's cockatiel "threw" a egg yolk and she ended up having a stroke. I took care of her for 6 months for my friend because she could not handle it. I should of kept her instead of giving her back to my friend. After I gave her back to my friend she died not long after. Jackie was a whiteface mutation.

Tie-dye is such a beautiful lovebird. I hope her color stabilizes for you soon so you can truely know what her colors are. I am sure once you get her nice and healthy her "true" colors will surface. It might not be until after her first moult while in your care. Do you plan on breeding her? I think she would make beautiful babies.

I am very glad for your good news here. You really deserve some success with your flock. I really do commend you for being able to care for all your birds, keeping them healthy and happy. I do understand as a breeder there will be some birds that pass and babies that don't make it but it does not make it any easier when they are family members and not just "stock" for your business.

Beth you are such a strong person to be able to take the ups and downs of caring for your larger feathered family. I keep you, your human and animal family in my prayers.

Lovely news, Beth! You really should break out the sunflower seeds and have a celebration with the fidsL I hope the good news continues well past Christmas and on into the New Year. :)

such a relief for me today!!

thank you so much everyone for your well wishes and such kind considerate words.
you guys are just the best bunch of people, and we really are blessed to have this forum to communicate and share with, good or bad.

As for Tie-Dye, she is really seeking male companionship and may match her up with a male, probably a peach face pied male, and hopefully I'll have little wee tie-Dye's running around by next year :)

OH THANK GOODNESS!!!!!!!! I am SO glad! :D

Glad she is okay! :)
