this morning Tundra deposited another blood clot
I took the sample with me to see Evan this morning along with her 'shell less' egg....
he was not surprised by the egg part AT ALL, but rather concerned with another deposit of blood from this morning.
As we talked he concluded that the clot from this morning was no more than 'left over' from the day before.
He weighed her, she's 97grams, she is exactly the same weight as the day I got her.
He gave her a double injection of Lupron which virtually shuts down the hormones to produce eggs....she was due to lay another one tomorrow.
that should work for approximately 6 weeks.
In the mean time I was inquiring about Tie-Dye(aka rainbow) my 'red-suffusion lovebird"....I snuck her into the truck with Tundra....my husband was working from home today, of course of all days!!
I wanted them to do some blood work to confirm any liver/kidney issues, which may be a direct result due to her neon colouring or red.
A technician took her to the back to withdraw blood, while Evan examined Tundra.
they could not get any blood out of Tie-Dye, her vein ballooned when they inserted the needle and they had to stop. he said that happens only to 1/50 birds.
While I was paying the bill,Evan came out to talk to me about Tundra, he looked over at Tie-Dye, and she seemed quite weak....he took her to the back room and gave her an injection of IV solution to perk her up....she returned back to normal, thank goodness....no charge
I'll take her back in January/February sometime and request Evan to withdraw the blood this time.
Evan did say he rather doubts she is red-suffusion, due to her colouring reversing while I have had her, rather than increasing, in such a short period of time.
He said you typically see red sufusion in OLDER lovebirds with increasing red, not decreasing as a result of liver issues... He seems to think she is under the age of 5 years.
all in all a huge relief
