Trying for a fall clutch!

After several months of rest since their last clutch (which was fertile but never hatched) I set Rue & Boo back up with their nestbox for a try at a fall clutch. They have been feeding each other and very receptive to it so far so I'm hoping for babies from this pair. If they do lay eggs that end up hatching I'll be sure to post them all here as they grow

They did SO well incubating their last clutch, wish them luck they have success this time around!

Just a small update -- we now have 3 eggs in the nestbox

Four eggs. Not sure if Rue is done laying but its obvious she LOVES her eggs. They have been mating a lot so I'm hopeful they're all fertile. I like looking inside and seeing her reposition herself and then floof herself up for maximum warmth, lol!

Baby #1 hatched today!!!! I'm so proud of my two for being such a good team and being so gentle with the new baby. I'm also super excited because this is my first successful clutch in 4 years!

Looks like it will take on colors of mom as it has bright yellow down can you see it in the far left corner?

Thanks for all the nice comments!! I'm so happy for them, chick is still doing great on day 2, fluffy and cute as can be, I love the little chirps it makes. It's perfect timing too because it hatched on me and my husband's dating anniversary yesterday (16 years!)

Baby #2 hatched early this morning! Rue is a great mother and both parents are already experts at feeding them. Still have two more eggs, wonder if they will hatch!

Still sitting at two babies as of today! I was finally able to take them out of the nestbox for a short photoshoot last night and get good pictures of them.

The two other eggs turned out to be duds so it's just the two

They are doing great, with parents taking great care of them. Baby #1 started opening its eyes this morning at 11 days old, so cute! It's pinfeathers are just starting to grow in, looking like a normal grey to me so far. Other baby is still very fluffy and has its eyes closed with a tiny bit of darkness coming in along the wing. So precious! Both have very plump bottoms right now, lol. I've been taking them out every couple days for a little photoshoot. Parents are coming out of the nest more often and are totally okay with me taking them out.

A day late but I was able to take the babies out for a little Thanksgiving photoshoot yesterday Baby 1 for sure looks like a normal grey to me but I'm not sure about the other baby yet.
