Military Macaw - Trucker - hatched in 99'
Trucker got some nice outside time today. He sat on my lap and we enjoyed the nice weather.

He's so beautiful. I love the look in his eyes :)

Absolutely beautiful! Can't wait until I can do that with my Simba.

He loves getting outside, he spent his first 14 years locked up in a room with very minimal sunlight, so we're making up for lost time haha. Thanks for the compliments on him :)

Beautiful guy !!! Im so happy for him :)

I love the first picture with his red front..it kind of looks like a brush. I bet it is very soft to touch and pet. LOL. Valentino has his red front coming in and there is one green feather left in it.

I think the transformation with Trucker looks amazing. He is gorgeous and looking really healthy. I understand he is a while to go yet but in your care he is really coming around nice. How is his temperament? Does he like you both? How does he react to people he doesn't know yet? I would love to hear more about how Trucker is adjusting. I am enjoying the updates about him and the pictures you post of him.

Noblemacaw, Trucker has a very good temperament for a macaw from what I've heard and read. It only took him about a week to start wanting me to hold him, it took me a bit longer to feel comfortable though haha. Now he will step up (when he wants to) and I trust him to be a good bird. I play with his beak and love to pet his red head ;). He doesn't lunge at me through the cage ever anymore and I can give him baths and everything by myself. I gave him a nice one this morning :). His favorite person is still my husband, but my husband works 10 hours a day, so it was only a matter of time until Trucker started letting me give him attention. He would never bite, in fact in all 14 years of his life he never has, according to my husband and his grandparents. Its not his nature. He is an extremely lovey and sweet big guy. He will bluff though. That's pretty typical from what I've read. When new people come over he gets all fluffy and just kind of sits very still in his cage. So far he is a pretty quiet bird *knocks on wood*. I guess we couldn't ask for a better macaw :) I finally have him eating a veggie/fruit mash. And healthy grains every day. I've weaned him down to about a pinch of seeds sprinkled on his mash every day.

Trucker is gorgeous and he looks so happy out there!
