that should have been Munch's name!!

so sharing a few photos here.

this one... does anyone else think of the T-rex from Jurassic Park when they see this photo? Jurassic Park is banned in our home. Because of Munch. When it was on, she got all excited and kept calling back to all the dinosaurs. Now we know why... she wants to be a T-rex. Or maybe in her mind, she already is one. who knows with her!! But, I gave her a small plastic toy car (from a Kinder Egg Surprise, for those who know what they are). It has no metal bits or anything too small for her, but she is having a riot with it, throwing it around her cage and wrestling around with it.

and then Tuesday night/Wednesday morning. I had a hard time sleeping and I had to get up early for a day shift at my work. So I forced myself to go to bed around 2:30-3:00 am and that's when Munch decided to get up, despite it being dark in the room, and start bashing her bell around. and I mean the 4" SS pipe bell she has. right against her cage wall for hours on end. then run over to her rattly toy and start bashing that as hard as she could. back and forth back and forth between all her noisiest toys and making a huge ruckus. why? because that's how she plays from the moment she wakes up to the time she goes to sleep. is noise noise noise. but i sat there for hours trying to fall asleep and she still just kept going on and on. i managed to fall asleep at 7 am only to have my husband come home at 8 am and wake me up to get ready for work (husband works midnights during the week, i work midnights on the weekends).

you bet I bird shamed Munch for keeping me up :D I'm not above shaming them if it's called for (lovingly though, luckily Munch is super cute and I can't be mad at her, even if I only got an hour's sleep!) I just hope this dont become a habit lol

I'll never get bored of her antics!! And people wonder why we love her. We just do.

and just for the adorableness...

demanding some snuggles in my hand... and then looking all cute and innocent.

Oh my, Munch reminds me of Godzilla with that car!
So you have a dinosaur and an alarm clock all in the same package:)
She may be trouble, but she sure is precious trouble...no wonder you love her so much!

actually once she DID save me from being late for work. My alarm didn't go off and my husband had to stay late at work so no one was home to wake me up for my shift. She actually was screaming that morning, which is really abnormal for her. but she woke me up a half hour to spare and it was rather nice lol

just 3 am... not so much ;)

She must have been on Tokyo time:)

Lololol! Oh no! Not the shame note! You didn't make Munch stand by the side if the road with his shame-note did you? :D

i'd be cruel to do that in this weather LOL snowing here and -5 C out there!

but it got posted on facebook, so i suppose it figuratively got posted at the side of the road :p

I got a chuckle out of that. Munch is just too cute!!!!! I'm learning to love Lovebirds again after I took in Bramble. I had some nasty mean pairs in the past and had my share of bites from them but the friendly ones are just too adorable. ;)

ROFL!! What a great post!! I hooted at her "calling back to the dino's"!! So funny!! Who says Darwin was a crackpot? Here's proof of evolution - complete with cuteness and feathers! LOL!!

lol munch goes right up there with nasty bites!! she's gotten me to the bone a few times, when she wants to. but we have worked out an agreement. i pet her when she asks and i dont get bit :D it's a win win. i get a cute cuddly bird in my hand and i dont get bit lol

warning: photos may be a bit graphic for some people, but this is her last really bad bite i've gotten. she tagged me while i was cleaning her cage!

she's cage aggressive, but usually if you pet her first, she wont bite--unless you clean her cage. then anything is fair game lol she can be a handful lol

OMG....That's one nasty bite.....I thought I had it bad but that's worse then the lovebirds bite I've gotten before.....I'm glad little Bramble doesn't do that....have you seen pictures of Bramble???

yes the adorable black masked lovebird :D he looks pretty good!

that's not the worst bite ive gotten. i have a scar on my left middle finger knuckle from where she punctured it down to the bone, it took a few weeks to heal. that one was really bad.

she latches on and doesnt let go for nothing. she will dangle off your fingers if she's in the mood. and it doesnt stop there. if shes feeling really mean, she grinds her beak on your skin D:

her brother bites too, but not like that. his are more like pinches and they dont really hurt much. nothing compared to hers lol

both are cage aggressive, so i only really bother with their cages to feed, clean, water, and add toys. other than that--respect their space and you dont get bit as much lol

lovebirds think theyre so big and tough. my husband teases and says if she ever escaped he's gonna feel sorry for the hawks in the neighbourhood because she's gonna go kick them out of their nests for their sticks and theyre gonna be too terrified to fight back lol sadly he may very well have a point with munch...

I don't doubt that with Lovebirds, the ones I used to have terrorized all the other birds. The first Lovebird baby I've raised, he was raised together with a cockatiel bsby, they were best of buddies but he don't hesitate to attack other tiels. His name was Cookie and his tiel sis was Selene. They were so cute together. :)

the males are supposedly nicer and black masks are supposed to also be calmer and gentler than the peach faces... but my friend has a male black mask who is just as nasty as munch some days lol

you know what species of lovebird i hear is actually the best for being gentle, friendly, and peaceful with other birds? black cheeked lovebirds! but theyre really really really rare in my area, i could be paying up to $400 for one D: it's rare even to see fischer's in my area. most common are peach faces (and usually just green ones or seagreens) and blue black masks. anything else people here consider "rare" lol

munch used to be really nasty to the tiels, which is why we have to be careful when she is around them. she's been really good lately with other birds, but mango has started getting more aggressive towards them. go figure. munch is responsible for 2 broken toes in our tiels (dally has one toe that remained crooked, and she nearly amputated tsuka's toe!) just for them landing on her cage when they all lived in the same room.

Bramble doesn't like the tiels flying on his cage either so I'm watching them not getting their toes bit off....

Munch looks so sweet and innocent. I think many of the little parrots, including my GCC (who is WAY bigger than a lovebird, but still small) have a Napoleon complex, lol.

Munch is absolutely adorable in those videos. Those little bites really, really hurt!
Trixie only lets me touch her on her terms, too. She's also cage aggressive and does not let go either, once she clamps her beak down. Ouch!

OUCH OUCH OUCH!!! I would have NEVER guessed.

Munch is adorable, she certainly has a godzilla side to her. Lol!
