Hi
The travel carrier that came with Guacamole is the plastic, airline type. Over the years she has 'customized' it by chewing on it, making the holes very large. My Dad used to wrap wire between them and put pieces of steel (?) mesh to close them up. The carrier is quite tattered and quite possibly has become unsafe. I'm concerned that replacing it with a similar carrier will result in the same destruction.
What type of carriers do others use for their 'zons? Thanks!
Laurie

I don't have a zon, but for Merlin I use this one

It flatpacks and folds away and has a removable tray at the bottom so he's not stood in his poop. We use it all the time. I recommend these type to everyone.

They come in large sizes (larger bar spacing etc) so I'd definitely look into one for your Zon :)

We ended up customizing a clear tote. We had seen a lady come into the vet with her grey in a similar box. My husband put holes in the lid. We attached a perch and put a toy or two in there. Em has not destroyed it, but then, she is rarely in it. We just use it to take her to the vet.

I purchased something similar to this, if not the same, for our amazon and love it! We just returned from camping for 4 days and it was great. I bought mine at a bird fair for about $35.

:)

Thats the one I use. Mine has a wire grate at the bottom too. I use it if I'm actually traveling and the bird might need to spend the night in it. For quick trips to the vet, I use the plastic airline carrier. The only problem with wire dog crates is that they don't have a grate to keep the bird from chewing on the bottom tray. Once they have chewed through that, there are large gaps in the bottom wire where the bird can either chew on the floor or squeeze out when you try to carry it to the car. You also have to make sure the bottom tray can't slide out while being carried. If it does, the bird falls through the bottom gaps and is loose.

I have that same carier for cooper and love it. I since it is big (compared to a quaker) I can put himin it and bring him outside with me.

That one does have a grate at the bottom, it's just not easy to see because the cage is white, the tray is white and the background is white haha!

But yeup, it's brilliant. Flatpacked fold away, two dishes, light enough but also heavy enough to not be easily knocked. Plenty of air flow and not in a plastic thing that tends to over heat.

Just love it. Merlin's in it now as he's having a little nap with us in the livingroom. :)
