I'd like to get a travel cage for my conure (crimson bellied). I was thinking about a Kings cage carrier. Dimensions are about 16 x 18 x 18 (give or take). It's bigger than a small conure needs for a travel cage but I would like it to double as an outside cage to get some sunshine in the backyard. What do you think? Thanks!

How often do you play on using it? If not very much, just get a cat carrier for $20 or so. For an outside cage, it is not very big.

I'm with Bob...that's a lot of cage for a once in a while carrier.....now, if you like that cage for show & are maybe going to haul it around in a custom Hummer or other custom pickup, I might be able to agree with you, but I really don't think it's practical.....just MHO.....

Thanks for the replies. It is pretty expensive for how much I will be using it. I think the cat carrier for the car and an inexpensive cage for the back yard is probably the way to go.

Not sure what your use is or if you are still debating this at all but I have a car carrier (more like a cat carrier, with the little seat belt connector) and a folding 'travel cage' for our overnight trips to friends houses. I bring a few toys and perches to set up and he does well. I have this inexpensive one and also use it sometimes as a cage on the front porch when i sit in the rocking chair with the pets outside: Bird Cages: Fold 'n Go Travel Cage at DrsFosterSmith.com

I have a kings cage aluminum travel carrier in size tiny for my eclectus. It's way to small to be used for anything other than a short trip (vet, park, etc.) But I'll tell you right now, it is AMAZING! It's super lightweight, doesn't rattle, very sturdy and Nalani really loves it. She hates car rides and this carrier really helped settle her stress and now she sings and talks the whole ride.

Ok, so that was the good part, the bad part about it is the price. It's pretty pricey and if you're looking for a duel purpose outside "small" cage and travel. I recommend a dog crate:

It's not as lightweight, but offers much more room than the kings cage. Also, it costs 6x less than the carrier you're suggesting. You can add toys, perches bowls and still spend 50% less. I have a dog crate and have already used it countless of times for longer trips.

If I were you, I would get the dog crate and spend the left over 200 on a nice flight cage for the outdoors.
