How can I teach my CAG to let me hold his wings for trimming and maybe tickle his under wing? He still feels insecure when I stroke his back :( although he LOVES me. He knows how to wave, lets me scratch his head and loves to play touch with my finger. He won't get on my shoulders for some reason and he won't let me touch his wings. My CAG is 2 1/2 years old aprox. and has been with me for a year and a half. I have the clicker but don't know where to start for the mentioned training.

Same problem here. Can't touch my CAG's wings at all. Wild he glad to hear suggestions

Same problem here, MJ never bites or nips. Loves being on my shoulder but won't let me open her wings... She just growls at me.

My grey hates that too. But my too no problem when me opening hers wings for trimming..

There are many reasons that birds do not like their wings touched or spread. First, it's not natural to them to allow anyone to do that. Also, it opens up a very vulnerable part of them, and exposes their sides and internal organs to possible predator invasion. And, their natural stance is with wings folded on their sides. Plus, you shouldn't be touching under their wings too much. Only mates do that, and it could stimulate mating behaviors that you really do not want.

You are definitely right about all those reasons. But since I can't touch here wings I can't put harness on her and can't take her outside for some sunbathe and fresh air.
I also think that it will be more traumatic for her, when we'll have to go to vet. for trimming....
