Peachfaced Lovebirds
Black masked Lovebird
Tooki is my other Rosella (GM Rosella). He is not tame and LOVES to fly around the bird room. He accepts food from my hand, but only when he's in the cage and I pass it through the bars. He's happy to follow my hand all around the cage though for food . He's also very gentle when taking food, he slowly comes over to me one step at a time then takes the food slowly. I can tell when he wants the treat because he starts to move his mouth haha. Makes me laugh that he can be so delicate taking treats. I offered him a chilli seed on the tip of my finger and he came and picked it up with his tongue and wandered off.

Anyway once he's out he is a pain to get back in his cage and I really don't like catching him because it freaks him out (It would scare be scary having someone follow you around the room and catching you in a towel) So I decided today to try to get him to step up using a spare perch (I've tried my hands and he's not quite ready for that yet so I'm using the perch so he doesnt get scared of hands). He let me touch him with the perch and after a few attempts and alot of "step up" Tooki got the idea. He seems to trust me more when I have Rainbow on my arm. I made sure he got a treat everytime, he was quite picky and only wanted the veg tonight and not sunflower seeds which I suppose is a good thing anyway.
He had a break when he decided he was going to be stubborn because he got bored, which was in about 5 minutes. Anyway I'm happy we got this far because he's a Rosella and aviary bred He also stepped up and I put him in his cage for bed which was better for him and easier for me. I just don't want him to associate "step up" with going in the cage so I'm making sure he gets all the "good birds", clicks and treats haha
He's very sweet, just a little nervous.
