Sun Conure named Halo.
I started training Halo to do a few basic tricks, like flips on his perch and spinning on the spot using almonds as treats. He really really enjoys playing and learning! It's really perked him up too. He was active before but now he's ultra playful, it's like someone flicked a switch.

Unfortunately Halo also seems to have learnt that he can just bite me and make me drop the treat so he can steal it, the cheeky beggar. He really goes insane when he sees almonds. Kind of like my dad.

Has anyone got any other cool things that you have taught your birds?

I taught my hopefully soon to be Sun conure how to swing on my hand. She, on the other hand has taught me a far more elaborate trick. I can be on the other side of the store and she'll send a stranger to get me by hanging upside down from one of her toys with a bunch of loose tassels at the end. The customer thinks that she's stuck and alerts me. I have to go check and when she sees me, she starts flapping like crazy and screaming until I go into her cage and spin the toy so she spins like a top. The look on the customer's face when I spin the "distressed bird" is priceless :p Course then I have to explain how she tricked them.

I think that teaching them to do tricks is always a good thing. They are so smart and it helps to stimulate them mentally and physically.

My amazon came to me already knowing how to wave hello, spin around on his perch and do 'big wings' where he spreads his wings out like an eagle. Since he has been with me, I taught him how to ring his bell toy on command. He just loves to do his tricks in front of anyone who will watch.

The best part is that he does it all for excited praise and clapping. I've tried to reward him with a treat but he sometimes gets so excited that he doesn't even want it and will just keep doing the trick for praise.
