Training a 3 month lovebird

I've just bought a 3 months old untamed Fischer lovebird. It's been two days now since I bought it, I'm not sure what gender it is. I brought it in carry box ( small wooden cage) and put it in a cage. It got used to where the food and water is but when I approach the cage it gets scared and flys back and forth. But I approach it gently and sit down it seem to handle it better but when I try to change the water it gets scared also. I know that I need to give it a few days to get used to it's new home. How long should I wait before starting to approach it and put my hand in the cage to train it. I don't want to wait alot and keep it caged for a long time.

hi mustly, also my lovebird was three months old when I had it and it took about a month to train him so that bringing it around will not run never. get used to you i suggest you take it often, perhaps using a glove to avoid being bitten, and scratching cheeks or over the head because also my lovebird love it
