Toys for baby

I'm getting a baby ringneck in two weeks. I've had other parrots but am unsure what the best toys are for my new baby. Can anyone advise me on some must haves? And what about one of those fleece tents that I've been seeing for birds to sleep in....good for a ringneck. Thanks!

Best to leave the 'tents' and like 'stuff' at the store and just maybe the they will Stop making and supplying those death devises.

Beaking toys are always a go choice as these allow the Parrot to work with its beak and grow more confident in its balance and abilities. Target soft wood that you can easily dent with your finger nail.

Another way of defining a good young parrot toy is who easy is it to move about (play with). Don't forget the Big Box Baby Stores and the your local Baby Stores. Lots of things that a young parrot can safely place with and enjoy!

I found a good way of doing it is aiming for at least one of each "type" of toy, then they figure out what they like to do. What I mean by this is to get 1 foraging toy, 1 preening toy, 1 shredding toy, 1 or possibly 2 foot toys, 1 chewing toy and a swing in the cage, I'd probably stick with them at first in the way of toys and they learn which ones they like. Some go nuts over every toy, others will ignore all toys in favor of one type all comes down to preference. Also I'm sure you've at least seen one video of a child being given an amazing toy only for that child to be more interested in the box or something else entirely? Well that applies to a bird! I spent in a month well over £100 on toys for my conure. His favorite toy? A plastic bottle cap (cleaned before he was allowed it)

You'll see stuff around in stores that will catch your eye and those will most likely catch baby's eye too. And like Sailboat said, keep away from "happy hunts" tents, fabric toys and especially anything that's been sewn together. The tents and huts will enforce nesting behavior and egg laying if you have a girl and all of them have been known to cause death, either by ingesting fabrics or getting trapped by a loose thread and effectively hanging themselves

I found this post when looking for info on more toys. I didn't realize (despite all my reading heading into this) that there were so many different types of toys! I wasn't sure what these different types of toys look like so I looked up preening toy. I then looked up foraging toy... and the same toy popped up. Looking around some more it seems almost every toy says that it is a "chewing, foraging, preening, shredding toy". LOL
So.... chew toy, would be something with wood they can chew up. Shredding toy, would be one with paper they can shred. (Those are pretty obvious) So you could have one toy that serves both these needs.
Foraging toys- things you can stick treats in that they chew or shred up to get to the treats inside? Like a piñata for birds? LOL (I see photos of plastic or rubber spheres with holes you can stick treats in, but wouldn't it be bad for the bird to tear up plastic or rubber, in case he swallows some?)
But what is a preening toy? A Barbie doll with a comb they can use on the Barbie with their beaks? (Could be a way to see if my IRN is a girl or boy. lol)

I have one big chew toy hanging in his cage, but since he was in my little cage before his big home arrived, the other toys were in there with him, and he (or she) FREAKS OUT when I try to reach in and hang them up in his new place. Since he isn't far enough along to step up, I don't want to let him out to fly around yet. So I feel horrible that all he has is the one hanging big chew toy and two foot toys. Man, I need him to start trusting me sooner rather than later so I can get him out of the cage. Hard to be patient... not for my enjoyment but for his!
