I'm looking for idea for toys to let the pretty chicken play with while she's out with me. She likes chilling on my shoulder while I'm on the computer or reading or watching TV. Sometimes she is content to just sit, other times she wants to play. She likes to play with the strings on my hoodies, but I only have a couple hoodies I'll actually let her play with. I won't let her play with the ones that have the plastic pieces on the ends of the string, but I will the ones that don't. Otherwise, she tries to take my glasses, and I would prefer those to not get eaten. So I am looking for ideas for stuff she could play with on my shoulder, although not necessarily for her to play with me with. She has a set of baby keys that she likes, but that only keeps her occupied for so long.

My latest shoulder toys have been balsa wood. I've picked up a variety pack from a hobby store and it's endless hours of fun.

Hobby lobby has a great selection and a visit to their website gets you a40% off coupon on anything. Can be used by any one over and over!

After reading all the posts (here and FB groups) about toxins/metals, etc... Im absolutely petrified to buy anything--especially if it's made in China, which almost everything is these days--even if they declare it to be bird safe. I dont trust them to have done any type of due diligence. Ive been grabbing pictures from amazon of toy ideas that i'd like to copy and I appreciate the post of Hobby Lobby as a source! What about Joanns, Michaels, or other stores? Any to avoid? What are the key words that Im looking for that say "safe" or "beware"

You are so lucky to have places where you can get parts for parrot toys...I think all our toys here in Ireland come from China mainly and even if you look for parts to make your own toys they too come from China and though I buy a couple and use them for Peter Pan and Mr Biggles I manly try snd use childrens toys that are parrot safe or else make some from paper or willow or apple tree branch twigs...I do have a question though as Mr Biggles is very interested in the zipper on my hoodie too is there a toy that is safe that resembles the zipper for them to shred ? I will have to look round the craft store in town and see if they have anything that is suitable to use as a toy ...thanks for the idea and I also would be grateful to know what to look for and what to say no to
