I'm hopefully getting a lovely little yellow sided conure this weekend and I'm so excited!! So I really wanna go out and spoil him before he gets to his new home but am unsure what to get him, I am a part of a conure page of Facebook and recently read a lot of toys with materials other then woods and steel chains are bad for the bird and can get the fibres stuck in their throat, so I am wondering if anyone knows a good online store I can browse for some bird toys, or even types of trees its safe to give him branches from.
Also I was wondering if anyone could tell me a good "bird chocolate" recipe or any other yummy recipes for them :)

I like to have at least one of these (also not limited to): foraging, bells/beads, and a type of puzzle aka something they can move. Once I find out which toy they prefer I start buying more of those.
For foraging, I use a lot of paper instead. It's just easier to find and I have a lot of it. Of course, I still have natural wood toys just so it's more in their nature.

For toys, you can look up "bird toys for sale" and you'll find, if not, hundreds of different stores!

I used these sites when I made perches.
Bird; Birds: Safe, Toxic Trees, Woods. Safe Tree Wood. Parrots. Parrot cages.
Safe and Dangerous Woods
Toxic and Safe Plants/Trees for Birds - Household Poisons

Edit: For recipes, I would try look at Kiwibird's thread, she has a bunch of really good looking birdie delights! She recently uploaded 2 new recipes

I buy toy parts from mysafebirdstore.com and make most of Zilla's toys. A small box stuffed with shredded paper and treats makes for a good foraging toy.

Skittle loves all his toys, particularly his soft cuddly ones (at night, and when he's feeling...amorous), but his favorite toys of all, bar none, are his dollar-store, hard plastic Angry Birds cat toy balls. They're hollow, about 1" in diameter, have slots on them (perfect for beak- and claw-grasping), and have little hard balls inside, so they rattle when he tosses them around. We have about 8 of 'em, and when Skittles is bored he'll spend hours picking them up, throwing them around, carrying theme to the top of his cage & dropping them into his water bowl.

On rare occasions, we've seen him lying on his back on the bottom of his cage, holding one of the Angry Birds in his feet, and rolling it around above him like some kind of circus act. The funny thing is, if he catches us watching him doing this, he immediately drops it, hops up on a perch, and gives us a look that, I swear, says "What? There's nothing to see here! I wasn't doing anything!" We've tried and tried to get video, or at least a pic, of this, but he's way too quick to discover our interest.

As for food, he likes his Harrison's Adult Lifetime Fine pellets & assorted fruits & veggies. Of course, when his nearest flock-made (Reno, our CAG) demands a cookie (Arrowroot), Skittles always wants a little piece for himself, too!
