So, I've got this idea for a toy thing that needs me to forage for eucalyptus gum nuts...you already know where I'm going, right? ;)

I stepped on a gumnut or something while plucking some from a tree, stepped funny and whammo! Torn muscle in my calf! I hobbled back to my car (of course, clinging onto the nuts I was able to collect LOL) and had to drive myself home. What a challenge that was!

Anyway, been to the doc : 3 days off, sonar of the leg to see if it will need surgey tomorrow, physio and pain pills.

BUT - just look what I got!!

Ouch. But the nuts are lovely:D and I am sure the bird will be happy. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will heal without surgery. Will say a prayer for your speedy recovery:)

OWWWWIE!!!! I hope you don't need to have surgery!

At least you managed to get quite a few nuts first!

Hahaha only you =p plenty of time to put your ideas into pr practice though haha look forward to seeing the end results. Hope the scan goes well and you have a speedy recovery.

Ouch!! Sounds like something I would do...
Hoping it's nothing that requires surgery! But as mentioned above this is a great excuse to take it easy and spend all the time you need on your ideas!! Hehe :) silver lining, yeah?

Ooh Michele :( sorry that happened to you! I hope you end up healing fast as possible and without surgery!

Hope it wouldn't keep you down for long. The crazy things we do for the fids. Does Percy eat them. Bet he has to work at those things. Have you tried Palm Nuts ?? I'm gonna look around for some eucalyptus gum nuts in my area.

Oh no! I hope you don't have to have surgery:(
I bet Percy will think it was worth it when he gets ahold of those nuts, though:)

Thanks guys, I do hope I don't need surgery. I am the WORST patient and nurses usually hate me within a day

Here's a tip for you, Michelle.

Get an old broom handle and screw a very large cuphook into the end of it (the largest you can get hold of). Use the hook to reach up and grasp the ends of the branches easily, pull them down and strip off the nuts.

This makes a neat lemon picker as well (helps you avoid the thorns).

I'm sorry for your poor old calf muscle and am sending warmest healing thoughts your way. I hope you can avoid having surgery! XXX

Trish, that is a BRILLIANT idea!! And it will help me get more gumnuts by myself because no one in my family will help go back and finish collecting them, the stinkers! If only I could figure out how to drive without using the leg....

Been for a scan, physio and follow up today. Won't need surgery but I'm under strict instrucions to "take it easy" for six months :D

I must tell you guys - being dependent on my dear old mother for driving me around. May cause premature dementia... Do ALL older people drive SO slow and yet still so wild?? LOL!!

Thank goodness you won't be needing surgery!! I still won't say woohoo cause still it's no fun having to be extra careful and having PT. Take care! Hope you heal fast. :)

The answer to that question is: YES! :)

Awww, hope you get some extra love from the cuddly creature that prompted the actions that lead to this injury------>:green::54:

Is your leg feeling better today at all?

Tanks guys. April, no I'm afraid it is not feeling any better yet :( But I'm sure that the results of the physio and meds will start kicking in soon. My biggest irritation is that Percy is deathly afraid of the crutch (looks too much like a stick) and the strapping the doc applied to the muscle ;).

Oh my, I'm sorry you tore your muscle! My mother did that awhile ago playing soccer... I didn't find out about it until she made a post on Facebook... silly mothers. But thankfully she was fine and just needed rest, so I hope the same for you!

I can totally imagine you hobbling away with those, too... I swear us bird people are crazier than any cat people out there! Hoping for a fast recovery :)
