Parrots
Hahn's macaw and red bellied parrot.
Yesterday we had a pirate day at work so i told them we could not have a pirate day without some parrots. So me and my friend loaded up a moluccan cockatoo (her bird) and my Hahn's Macaw, and we did a pet therapy day.

The patients LOVED it. We spent three hours and the birds were on their best behavior! It could not have gone better.

The geriatric peeps loved it. we plan to try and do it twice a month.

for those of you who don't know i'm an RN at a long term care facility.. way better than petting dogs! <3

That sounds really nice for them, I find a lot of the older generation love birds. Well at least the ones in my life do

I'm sure that it made their day!!!

That is so cool!! I'll bet it really did make their day!

Oh how FUN! I have done that with mini horses that we used to have. It is SO rewarding to see the smiles on patients faces.
(especially when they saw tennis shoes on my horse so he didn't slip on the floors)

Good for you, I hope you are able to continue doing it!

That sounds awesome!

I used to work at an assisted living facility, and every time an animal would come to visit, ALL of the residents would want to pet them.

The birds were on their best behavior. Stepping up for them and cuddling. They were in love with the birds. It was a great day, and we plan to do it again here in a few weeks.

Next time we plan to plan to bring a blue and gold and the moluccan cockatoo again.

That sounds awesome! I used to be a CNA and worked in geriatrics (mostly the Alzheimer's/Dementia Units) and the simple things like that would just make a residents week! So glad you guys were able to do that for them!
