so most of you know, I've only had Holly for 4 days and we are still adjusting and doing well.

However, her nails are terribly painful on my skin and I want to trim them. This obviously would require me to roll her into a towel to get it done....but is it too soon to do something like this to her? Will it bring us back too many steps, do you think? It's hard to say, I'd hate to wait until I have gained more trust and then break some of it.... or who knows...maybe it won't have too much effect ....

I'm not sure.... but her nails do need some trimming rather badly. No avianvets nearby, I have to do it myself.

In this case, since you just got her, I would take her to the vet to have it done just so your not the "bad guy". Then you would be the one giving all the sympathy. I did that with my guys when I first got them for the first nail trim. Now, I trim the nails, they get mad, they get over it. But our
"honeymoon" time is long past.:green1:

The vet is about 80 miles from here... I suppose I'll have to do a complete visit to make it all worthwhile. :)

If she has not been vet checked recently, that would be a very good idea. Then you can get everything done at once and by the time her nails are ready to be clipped again, you will have had her long enough for the bonding to be stronger. Like I said, they do get mad, and may hold a grudge for awhile, but they are like kids, they get over it. Especially if you've got food handy for when your finished. Good luck!:green1:

I leave trims and clips to the experts since I only have one bird. She fusses so much when I touch the wings or feet. They do get sharp for sure. Love the photo Nat.

Thank you SB
I talked to the vet today....finally found one in my area...Thank Goodness.

We are going to make an appointment for next week, have her examined and get the nails done....she will probably be terrible for it all.
But it will be good to have it done.
Thanks for the opinions...it helps to make a good decision
