Too good to be true?

Almost a guarantee to be a scam. They tell you that they just want to know that someone is going to take care of their Macaw and then they will have you pay in advance to a shipping company that doesn't exist. Whenever I see posts like these I contact the scammers just to waste their time for a few hours. They generally change their phone number once they are discovered too. It's sad to think that some people lose money to these crooks.

If I was in the market, I would look into it anyway. Who lives in Maine and how many Avian Vets do you think are up there? That's a very large state and it's so cold up there so maybe somebody is truly trying to rehome their bird.

I had a friend who lived in Canada who found a lot of excellent deals through Uncle Henry's.

I'm not looking to buy more parrots, but this ad concerned me. At that price, I would be worried about someone who knows nothing about birds getting this macaw. If it isn't a scam, of course.

There aren't many avian vets in Maine. I personally know of four, and one of them just retired.

Click on the "all classifieds by this seller" link on the advert to see what else the same seller has advertised.
Blatant scam...!

I would say scam for sure. Google hyacinth macaws and that same photo comes up under images

The reason the colors are off is because the photo was taken with a flash (probably indoors), then Photoshopped to appear on the tree. But the ad is DEFINITELY a scam effort! The person who placed it most likely lives in Cameroon, Africa and owns no birds.

The link didn't even exist anymore when I clicked it (said it was removed by the seller). There are a lot of scams out there, but also a lot of people who just really want to get rid of their bird and don't care what kind of home the bird ends up in. They look at rehoming the bird as a way to make back at least a little of what they paid for it, rather than surrender it to a shelter and make sure the bird finds a good home.

The ad is gone, but it is definitely a scam. The slightly awkward use of English in the title "Good Hyacinth Macaw Parrot" gives it away.

Yes and the first response back will be "Very happy to reads from you.......". Been there, lol.
