Hellooo
So I have two GCC and my fiance now reckons he wants a bird, but bigger and less nippy (well than the GCC!)
Can anyone offer me some form of comparison between the GCC alex and irn? Or pros/cons or just your general experience, are the bigger birds as companion-y as conures?
Hope this makes sense, I'm all teachered out after my first day back!
Thanks in advance =)

I don't have a GCC, but I have an alex and IRN.
My IRN is very nippy and can be aggressive at times, while my alexandrines are the opposite. They are extremely gentle, I have never been bitten from my alexandrines. I have heard that they are "gentle giants"

Some say alexandrines are cage territorial, my two aren't though.
So if you are after a bird that is gentle I would go for the alexandrine.

Just some other info about alexandrines;

They are said to not be cuddley/liked to be petted. Both my alexandrines like to be petted/stroked. Yuki is cuddly but Alex isn't cuddly.
Alexandrines are VERY destructive. They can be loud. There squawk is high pitched and it is ear pericing. I trained alex to meow instead of squawking.
Easy to teach train/teach tricks. Alex learned 2 tricks in one day (wave & shake). So they are very intelligent.
They love to hang out with you. They would be happy to just sit on your shoulder.
They aren't picky eaters and will eat almost anything you give them.

Umm can't really think of anything more atm, haha im pretty tired. :p
So hope that made sense

Thanks! It's just nice to hear people's personal experiences with the birds, was leaning towards the Alex, guess it's set!
Thank you again =D

I would go with the Alexandrine! From what I know of them, they are alot less nippy than the IRN.
