Ive been looking for a GCC in my area. Came across someone who is selling 1.

The owner has 3 that have been in the same cage since last summer, where he bought them from a breader who hand fed them.

The problem is ... how attached could they have gotten to eachother in that time, how would seperating one affect this..

I dont know what sex they are or if they have bonded.

The I know its situational...

Usually in that amount of time they will become bonded with each other. That being said there is usually the odd man out in the group, a pair will bond better than a trio.

The owner "should" know who the outsider is.

Good thought, NFFH!
I think the most important thing is looking from here forward. If you want a close companion, and you keep coming here and learning, you'll make a little bird very happy.

Its better to separate a 'third' bird from a group than to separate two from each other. .

I would go with the 'odd man out' rather than choosing one of the 'bonded' pairs. Once you get your bird home, you can begin the acclimating process and taming/training process after.

Definitely try to find the "third wheel" so to speak. I do want to mention, though, before I adopted them 2 of my green cheeks were housed in the same cage for 4 years and they are not bonded.... In fact, one hates the other. I think my conures case is out of the ordinary though.
