African Grey Timneh
It’s with a heavy heart and many tears that I tell you guys that Timneh made a mad dash for the door yesterday slamming into the door almost being crushed and skidded out onto the ground. It was very windy and she was startled and immediately flew up and over the house out of sight. I followed her whistling for several hours. Only to find a kid on his roof whistling back to me. I started to describe my parrot and he says immediately an african Grey. I’m pretty sure I made contact with her a couple hours after this wild goose chase but have not heard from her since it went dark last night. I have her cage outside and have posted on the neighborhood forums. The police know and I’m waiting for the pet stores to open to call them. I was hoping posting this while outside looking would make it easier but I can’t stop the tears.

Oh nooooooo hugs to you! We are holding out hope that Timneh will he found safe. I understand this heartbreak, following closely for news. [emoji174]

OH NO! I am crying just reading this. I feel like she’s mine as I know her so well from the forum.
Much Love and Many Prayers for a safe return.
X:heart:X:heart:

Must be very tough for you. I sincerely hope you get your beloved buddy back .
Please don't lose hope. There are many success stories of birds being recovered.

Hopefully she find his way back, that not good, my umbrella female was scared of the new leaf blower and took off a block down, when I pull it out to do yard work last week, usually she stay around area with my male umbrella cockatoo. I had a GPS on her and tracked her down and heard her flock calling me once she saw me she flew back to my arm once I found her on someone roof. She is flight trained, she just was lost as she lost sense of direction, as she took off without thinking due to leaf blower.

Hopefully someone found your bird and is honest enough to call you. I would put out flyers with pictures and phone # with reward, just in case someone found your bird. I also would check all social media including mainly Facebook and craigslist in market place for sale ads.

Still no word on Timneh. Parrot 911 has been absolutely amazing as I’m not very good with facebook and today’s social media. They have helped make fliers and posted to places i never even knew about. I miss her so much. I finally closed my door at 2:30 this morning and went to bed. it was the most guilty sleep i think i’ve ever had.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

Keep trying - even of it is months. You never know, except if you stop looking , you will not find her. I know of a parrot that whistled the owners favorite tune, was lost , and a lady 5 towns over heard him months later, and remembered the flyer about the parrot and his whistling. Owner and parrot were re-united.

Oh no! My heart is breaking for you.
When a bird goes missing here, there is a local parrot club whose members go out and help look...I wonder if you have a club close to you who may be able to help you search?
Sending many prayers that she is found today.

I’m so sorry to read this sad news. Timneh is one of PF’s own, please know that we are all sending love, prayers and positive thoughts that your sweet girl will be returned safe and unharmed.

PLEASE don't feel guilty for taking care of yourself!!!!! Your baby loves you and would want you to look after yourself!! Also, how can you properly look for her if you aren't well?

Bill, so sorry. That is my biggest fear. Hopefully you'll find her.

Don't give up! Thankfully, the weather is nicer these days. I am so sorry you are going through this!

I'm so sorry to hear this! Timneh is family hereabouts, so all our positive thoughts, well wishes and prayers are going out on her behalf. As so many others have said, please don't lose heart. There have been quite a few success stories here on the forum. Make sure to check out that link Scott put up. Lots of helpful suggestions in Allee's thread for reuniting with a lost bird.

We're pulling for you, Timneh. Come home soon.

Thank you everyone the word seems to be getting out but nobody has seen her. Went to the neighboring town to put up a flier in the health food store and the girl at customer service had already seen her facebook post.

That's good news that the word is getting out there.
Do you have any rescues in your area? If you haven't already contacted them, it may be a good idea. A lot of found birds here are taken to our local rescue. They advertise them as found on their FB pages and let the humane society know.

Humane society knows and has a flier up. There’s a woman that used to take parrots in that i still need to track down. But local police and neighboring police know. I have a thing in the paper running this week. My friend has a relative at a radio station and he’s going to be telling people today. Got a call last night Timneh may have been heard not too far from my house yesterday morning. Followed one lead that led me into the woods last evening and I actually had to run to my car being followed by mosquitos crazy.
