Time with the bird

Well my summer will be busy! Work and a bird Good thing I love them both!

Just a question though on time, I don't want my bird to develop any bad mental problems because of time so here my "proposed schedule" for the summer and can you guys help out decide whether my bird will stay healthy and any ideas/concerns on how to keep the bird entertained.

Schedule:

Weekdays 7AM - 4PM
Weekends - Open(Unless job 2 has me working those days)

Week days will pretty much be all the time for the entire duration of the summer but the weekends will be open unless my 2nd job has me working though I doubt they will have me working both days but who knows let prepare for the worst.

Will my bird be fine? I plan to buy more toys after getting the bird and figuring out what the bird likes and so forth(and when I get payed !) but so far I have plenty of perches and I like 3 or 4 toys(some shredders, bells, and puzzles).

Do note this bird will be eh a month old(Not weaned but don't worry about that, I'm working that out).

The bird will also have my little sister(14) and the mom there so I'll ask mainly the mom to sit in the bed room and talk to the bird for the sake of being there for the bird and to check if it needs anything.

Right after work, I'll be coming home and be hanging with the bird.

my work scedule has increased some an as a result we are at home alot less then what i would like to keep nut entertained/company i can be out of the house from 6am till 3pm some days

but i always make sure nut has plenty of things to do, she's not one for toys, but she does like to forage etc so her cage is always set up with treats hidden in toys, or toys she can shred and i leave itunes on for her, her cage is in front of the window during the day, so she can watch the world go by, an is moved back later on in day

at the start she was very stand off ish when i got home, but now she more then happy to see me, and i make sure she has a good head scratch, clean her cage etc i rearrange her hanging toys etc when she's in her sleep cage, move her food dishes about, smear peanut butter (tiny amounts) in plastic bottle caps for her to lick out

she's not been acting out any, and when i get home i've not heard her sceaming as i get to the door, the only thing she has been doin is poopin on my man her fav person

Just be aware a parrot needs a good night sleep of 12 hours with no interruptions or msic or TV or conversations. Some people put their bird in a sleep cage in a quiet room.

Well I plan to call bed time around 9, 10ish that about 10 hours of sleep I believe, so if anything I'll just have to get darker curtains and give the mom a time to take the cover off.

Which raises a good question now that I know the time thing isn't to terrible.

What should I use as a cover? You've seen my cage Spiritbird, A towel would be to small and all my blankets are very thick, should maybe a black bed sheet be fine?

If you bird is not used to a cover I would not do this. I partially cover the cage to block drafts of night time. Many birds are more frightened with a cover over them. You will just have to see.

Well it's a young bird and I wouldn't cover the entire cage, just the top half. I'll have to see how the bird reacts to this though so thank you.

What would you recommend doing though?
