so we took out the middle divider and rearranged things a bit (that was exhausting!!) i had to cut a new divider out of the mesh since i was thinking about keeping it all open for them to share it, but then while i was setting it up Tsuka decided to kick Dally off a perch and spoiled it lol so divided they are!

but they now have the 5' cage completely since the passing of our hedgehog last weekend.

they're really liking the space and have been up and down the cage all day since changing it!

pardon the little bit of mess. that was from rearranging and putting it all together and i just snapped the photos right after lol

That looks fantastic! They have so much room in there. Love the way you have it set up as well.
I'm sorry about the loss of your Hedgehog:(

thank you :) we are still quite upset about her passing, but she lived quite long for a hedgie and luckily it seemed fairly peaceful in the end for her. she passed in her sleep, most likely of old age.

we just got around to dealing with the cage (she used to live in the bottom level, as its a double decker cage) since we just couldn't deal with it right away.

That is definitely the hardest part, I think...makes it real, somehow when you put away their things.
I'm glad she passed peacefully. How old was she? What was her name?

her name was Poke a Roo, she was 5. most only live 3-4 years, but some can make it to 10. but she had been slowing down over the last 2 years and went blind as well. she was a rehome from a friend who couldnt take care of her anymore. we had her for 3 years.

It's wonderful that you gave her such a good home in her last years:) Poke a Roo is an adorable name.
That must have been rough with her going blind. So happy she ended up with you.

Very nice [love the double picture of them looking at you :) }

nice set up I love how the front doors open right up

the doors are great because theyre so big and they just open right up, but they can also be hard to place perches i may have wanted to put in the cage that way lol any long perches i have to put lengthwise or diagonally in the cage.

aww sorry about your hedgehog. But awesome cage set up!!! Great pics of them!

Very sorry about Poke a Roo. It was wonderful of you to give him a loving home. Those photos are great. I love seeing pics of happily pampered Fids! Great cage set-up. I can see how it could be tricky arranging the furnishings but you did a great job. Your birds have adorable names.

We got 2 of those same cages for or rats and ferrets.
Those really are great cages you can reach everything really good while cleaning.
Awesome work!!

especially for people like me who are very short haha reaching things in general is tricky business! theyre very sturdy cages too. we have a second one, for our chinchillas. we love them. this cage wasnt initially for our tiels it was originally for pokie, but the top level wasnt being used, so we moved the tiels into the top level, then put mango in the tiels old cage and that was that, everyone was happier. then pokie died and we finally got around to converting the entire cage for the tiels.

I have a cage something like that for my parrotlets. At some point I am planning on opening it up so they can get to the bottom, but they are still just in the top section now. I know what you mean about arranging things, the doors make it tricky. Yours looks awesome though! You gave me some ideas about what to do with the bottom of the cage:)

the hardest part my husband did, he removed the grate in the middle of the cage so its fully open. they both really love it so far, theyre all over the cage and both seem very happy with the new arrangement, theyre playing more, theyre more active in the cage.

i'd love to get one like it for our lovebirds, but i'd have to keep them on divided levels. but i cant really do that. Munch likes her cage the way it is

I think that's why we haven't opened it up yet, since we have to take it apart to get the grate out:( I also always think that I may run across a small guy I NEED, and then I would have a space for it:)
Maybe I should just open it up and take away the temptation.

lol that's why i had my husband take it out, he only slightly loosened it and then yanked it out with pliers :p rearranging the cage was hard enough work for me lol i cut the new divider, sized it, attached it, etc.

It's crazy how much work it is to get things perfect. We moved around the things in the new cage last night at least 10 times, and have rearranged again now that the birds are in there.

the hard part for me is placing toys, perches and dishes evenly without them getting pooped on--to make cleaning easier for me lol i have to predict which will be the more popular spots so i have to be really strict about what goes under those perches. then others that might not be used as much can be a bit more lenient. after all, scraping poop off perches all the time is NOT fun when you have arthritis in your shoulder!

That is a great cage setup! There's always something for them to play with!
