Michael Jackson's "Rock With You" (1979) is probably my favourite song. With the masterful duo of Temperton on writing and Mikey on vocals, why wouldn't it be? I've listened to it since I was a newborn, or so I'm told. When I was little, I knew the song was about dancing with somebody you love. And that's about it. However, over recent months, one section has changed my entire perspective on it. I now see it a testament to a perfect love. One so pure, simple and sweet, yet so complex in its own way. The most bittersweet part it is that it is the kind of love Michael was never able to experience during his just shy of 51 years on this planet. So, what is that section?
And when the groove is dead and gone
You know that love survives
So we can rock forever, on
That part of the song is so special. To me, it means that the love shown in the song transcends human life and existence itself. Even when they are nothing but dust, they will still be wrapped in an eternal embrace. They will dance among the stars long after time itself has stopped. That is... Something I would like to have. What really made me fall for this song even more, though, are these remixes on YouTube. I believe AjaxStriker's version is the best. The introduction accentuates the romantic vision of the song. I highly reccomend Rock With you and all of the remixes you can find! I wanted this post to be much longer, but I'd be writing for hours.
Just a small observation.
