Venus is such a picky eater compared to Buddy, Buddy is a green pig and will eat pretty much anything I put in front of him. To get Venus to eat the right things, and if she's not eating what I give her in her cage, I put it in a cup, with a spoon and put it on the table next to me. She runs to the cup and dives in.

GetWozzy, does this picture look familiar, lol! She will run and hop on the table, pulls the spoon out of the cup and throws it on the ground. I help her get on the cup. I sit the cup on a mug warmer, BUT IT'S NOT ON, it stabilizes the cup with Venus on it because it has a lip.

Today's meal is brown rice with finely chopped carrot, strawberry, kale and pinto beans. She devours it out of the cup I guess the cup makes it special and delicious, she feels accomplished eating out of my cup, lol.

And finally, she wears her food and uses my fingers to start cleaning her beak. Glad I can help her out there and I am useful.

So for anyone having issues getting their birds to each the good stuff, this is a trick that works for me. I'm also trying to record Venus opening her cage door. She opens and closes her cage door. At first we thought it was coincidence but she does it all the time now. For example I gave Buddy an almond earlier, I always feed him first. Well she couldn't wait, she opened her cage door, came out, climbed to the top, hopped to Buddy's cage and ran over to me to take her almond. At night, she puts herself to bed and she closes the door once she's inside, it cracks me up! She is so smart!!

Adorable... I am here to tell you those Red Heads are smart ones! Jillie can figure out ANY foraging toy lightning fast! She also opens every door on her cage and will also "FREE" everyone else if given a chance!

Yes Venus has been trying to "free" Buddy. She roams quite a bit so I lock Buddy in his cage because he's a home body. I don't allow them out at the same time together because they are very nice to each other. Well Husband caught her on Buddy's main door trying to open his door, Buddy was being a cry birdy and crying. I make sure Buddy's doors are locked tight and I'm waiting for the day to come that she figures out that there is a second lock on the door and you have to have two hands to unlock it. See, I think I've got her figured out but I'm expecting her to surprise me soon, lol!

Sweet photos! Very clever method of getting a picky bird to dig in!

I can't help laughing at your lock pickers not only freeing themselves but also releasing their friends, how thoughtful.
