Venus is such a picky eater compared to Buddy, Buddy is a green pig and will eat pretty much anything I put in front of him. To get Venus to eat the right things, and if she's not eating what I give her in her cage, I put it in a cup, with a spoon and put it on the table next to me. She runs to the cup and dives in.
GetWozzy, does this picture look familiar, lol! She will run and hop on the table, pulls the spoon out of the cup and throws it on the ground. I help her get on the cup. I sit the cup on a mug warmer, BUT IT'S NOT ON, it stabilizes the cup with Venus on it because it has a lip.
Today's meal is brown rice with finely chopped carrot, strawberry, kale and pinto beans. She devours it out of the cup I guess the cup makes it special and delicious, she feels accomplished eating out of my cup, lol.
And finally, she wears her food and uses my fingers to start cleaning her beak. Glad I can help her out there and I am useful.
So for anyone having issues getting their birds to each the good stuff, this is a trick that works for me. I'm also trying to record Venus opening her cage door. She opens and closes her cage door. At first we thought it was coincidence but she does it all the time now. For example I gave Buddy an almond earlier, I always feed him first. Well she couldn't wait, she opened her cage door, came out, climbed to the top, hopped to Buddy's cage and ran over to me to take her almond. At night, she puts herself to bed and she closes the door once she's inside, it cracks me up! She is so smart!!
