Stewie- Eclectus

Oscar-Black capped Conure-RIP my baby
Today I noticed that Stewie has teeny tiny thinning areas on his face. These areas are above his beak and around his eye/cheek area. They do not show his skin and are so tiny that I asked myself if it has always been like that. If it gets any worse I am going to take him in to the vet. Has anybody experienced anything like this before?

Could it be his diet? He eats rice, noodles, beans, veggies, fruit, sprouts (though he really doesn't seem to be too fond of them). He gets cheerios as a snack. I occasionally give him a few pellets and seed as a treat, but he does not have it very often.

I don't think you will have to take him to the Vet, I am sure he would be molting. One of my males looks a little worse for wear at the moment.

moults

My male looks like Eddie in the above link.

PHEW. Yes he looks like Eddie without the large patch. He is about 5 1/2 months old so I was not sure if he would be molting yet. Thank you :)

In that case all eclectus go through a mini molt at the age of 5 to 6 months old, where they replace their head feathers, LOL they do look a bit unkept. They also go through a 12 month molt as well.
