Thinking of Buying a Male Caique

Hello Parrot Community,

I am thinking of buying a baby male caique but I have read so many horror stories about their aggression. Could someone please help me on my thoughts with their experience?

Oh Im sure you will hear lots !! you've called on us . I have 3 caiques ,Greta was my first bird and I love them to death. Caboose is on my shoulder now. What I love about these guys is that they know how to entertain themselves. They Need LOTS of toys ! Swings, boings [to bounce] foot toys and a big WIDE cage. Their my best eaters [love food] . Don't just give them pellets [cook for them ]. Not only do they love their toys they love you! They are excited to see all my family members [all of them].I have two males and a female. One secret about these guys is that don't let them get things they cant have [they will fight you to the death ]. They think its theirs . I think these guys are great and Im sure the rest of the owners feel the same . Note - you don't see too many of these guys at rescues.Im sure for a reason

There are several threads on caiques. I myself have never owned one but have read plenty of positive posts on them, they seem to be playful, active, and entertaining. I saw one today and just loved him! As with all birds, you have to work socializing them and helping them settle according to what I've read. check out the caique threads for more info. Good luck!
