tsuka has a strange, and rather silly habit. we don't really mind TOO much, as we have found a solution already that works.
my husband started working midnights months back and we've noticed that tsuka has developed an annoying habit of screeching his head off for HOURS when my husband goes to bed after work. and i mean, he would just carry on for hours and hours just flock calling and making obnoxious noises.
i noticed recently that he does this while peeking into the bedroom! their cage is located right outside the bedroom door, so they can see into the bedroom. well, he didnt discriminate against any time of day to start his screaming, so long as someone was sleeping in the room. he often kept me up as well if i chose to sleep in a bit. or, the day i was really really sick a few weeks back, i slept most of the illness off, and tsuka would not stop screaming the entire time.
we couldnt figure out why....
but now, we finally clued in.
he screams any time he sees someone SLEEPING!
my husband went to take a late after noon nap last week and the moment he lay down and started to sleep, tsuka starts screeching his head off at the top of his lungs.
thats when we figured it out. but, we figured out how to stop the behaviour. if we block his view of the bedroom, he does not scream. and he only screams if we are sleeping. if we are sitting down watching a movie or cuddling with one of the cats, nope no screaming. but go to sleep? oh yeah he's gonna start screeching your ears off lol
i find it kind of funny at the same time obnoxious. luckily, we put a sheet up on the side of their cage for when my husband is sleeping and he doesnt scream, just does his regular chirping, talking and whistling.
so, this leaves us with the fun question... WHY does he not like people sleeping?? lol it's kinda strange and amusing in its own way, as it's something so ridiculous.
we have brainstormed a few theories with a friend as well, and wondering what you all think?
our theories thus far:
1. maybe he thinks when we sleep, we're dead so he is screeching to call to us hoping we'll respond (if you respond, he still continues?)
2. he's just a jerk and likes to keep us awake haha
3. he has attention problems and thinks we are ignoring him when we sleep
any other theories you can think of?
