We've had the four little ones in two separate cages for a long time now and they seem to love being all together. Decided to move them all into a bigger house. The results so far are very good!! They have enough room to actually fly about and there are enough "areas" that they can each have play areas minute to minute.. There's even multiple food bowls so there should be less arguments over eating spaces! Spent the entire day yesterday frolicking about and settling in.

Last night they were all huddled up on the top perch, two facing one direction, two facing the other way.. Only issue so far is that one of them must have gotten startled waking on the strange perch and fell.

Lovely! How old are they? I have heard a lot of conflicting things from breeders about their personality, and have not ever talked to someone who owned multiples.

What a nice cage setup! I bet the "squeak squad" will thoroughly enjoy their new home :) That picture of them all on the branch together is too cute BTW.

Looks like things are great! [they look like so much fun :)] Do you find any differences in them [having both kinds?]. I have only been around blkheaded ones/

Each one has their own personality but they are all Caiques and all hysterical in their own way.

One pair are 7 and 5 years old, the other is 1 and 2 years old respectively.
There is no real difference I can see between the black head and the white belly.
Ringo (black head 4yo) is the explorer and sentry for the crew, always searching the highest ground and alerting others loudly when he feel the need.
Chica (7yo female) is the mother hen, making sure they are all preened properly and makes turbo spooling noises! When relaxed she'll stand on one foot and "pant" with her tongue sticking out the side of her mouth.
Scooter (1.5yo) is the clown, constantly in motion and trying to steal food. Worst ADD and the most stubborn one of the crew. When relaxed he'll stand on one foot and "pant" with his tongue sticking out the front.
Skittles (1yo) the scrappy runt of the crew, a fighter and troublemaker but also the cuddly baby when it's convenient for him..

We also take them out to the local bird shop to socialize with other birds on a regular basis. There were two other Caiques there that we might have considered adding to the flock but they were just soldl!!

Their new cage is awesome! Sounds like they are really enjoying it. Squeak Squad, love that!
Exciting that you now have 2 empty cages, just sitting there...

The name "Squeak Squad" comes from the cacophony of noise they all make when we walk in the door!!

We always keep one empty cage as a "birdy jail" for when one of them gets too aggressive with the others. Whoever the instigator is, they spend the day in an empty cage with just food and water while in plain site of the others.. They are really smart and it's never taken any more than a day or two to get them to understand and play nice. We only had to do this once or twice, I think the larger cage gives them a lot more flexibility in play space so there shouldn't be any fighting (outside of the normal Caique wrestling matches) ;).

It's a fabulous new home! Worthy of HGTV! And, once again, it proves that caiques are smart little birds, investing in real estate like that...

They are just darling. They must love their new place. How many of The Squeak Squad have had to do time in birdy jail?

Hmmm...for my personal safety, serenity and overall well-being, I've gone with electrified barbed wire. Is that bad?

;)

I'm assuming you use it around your bed since Henry & Eliza have taken over the rest of the house. :p

What bar spacing are you using?

According to the spec I found (may not be the right cage) it's 3/4".. None of their heads come close to fitting through anywhere on the cage.

Perhaps just electrified, not barbed.. They know how to use toys to protect them from the barbs and even razer wire..

Only had to do it with one of the pairs for about a week or so.. They always slept well together, just got in fights when the sun out. They start at each other as soon as we got them up in the morning, the first one to attack went to birdy jail for the day.
VERY effective..

Believe it! Despite all appearances, I'm not as dumb as I look!
