I agree with a lot of the points.

I'm glad thus far *keeping everything crossed here!!* Cal is happy to be with us all day. I think we all fear our fids will get to the stage that we aren't enough anymore as happened with Cal's father. He was apparently a constant companion who did everything with the breeder. Then someone who was emigrating gave him a female sun conure. Cal's dad (Rocky) has done nothing but protect his "Mrs" since and the breeder cannot get near him.

I also read about this in a conure book that I bought before I had Cal. It said that sometimes a bird will suddenly not want you anywhere near it to interact. It will stop talking/chirping. It can even stop eating. When all medical problems have been ruled out it can often be the case that the bird just wants a mate. It must feel pretty awful.

We take all of this on board when we adopt a fid but I suspect we all hope that we will never have to "lose" our pets so quickly.

It's nice that it has been highlighted so beautifully in this article as I think it is something that is not known as a given.
