Taylor - Black capped Conure (RIP 3.14.15 - miss you every day little "Girlie")
Today my son and I decided to drop in to the bird shop in our area just to spend a little time with their birds.
Not too long into our visit, we saw a bird that they NEVER have in the shop...
an Illigers Macaw!
I couldn't believe it.
Of course, once the people in the store discovered I actually knew what kind of bird it was and that we were a little bit interested, they couldn't get a holding blanket for us fast enough (the bird is only about 7 weeks old and not perching yet).
We spent over an hour enjoying our time with "Birdie". My son fell in love and I knew this was our bird. You know when you just KNOW? That is what happened today.
"Birdie" is being DNA sexed so we are holding off on naming him/her for now. He will be staying at the bird store for at least another 4 weeks as he is still being hand fed. The store is very good about letting the bird wean at their own pace. But, we will get to visit with him as much as we want. Of course, we are going to see him tomorrow!
So no more "talk me out of this bird or that bird" threads from me LOL! The search is over!
Thank you all for your support during these past few weeks!
