Meisha is normally prompt in responding to the request command to “get off the floor.” She will proceed to a higher elevation. A chair, table, her cage.

Her response yesterday was rather amusing. She immediately approached and stood up on a gaming console that was on the floor. She turned to me and stared as my son and I burst in laughter. The unit measures about 8 x 6 x 1.5”.

Agree Sir! They understand to the point of where, when they want to, they F*** with our heads just for funzies. Salty does that all the time, especially when we train. He'll purposely do some trick wrong, and glare back at me. Or unceremoniously throw the prop off the table, and a stink eye back. " I was just testing YOU!".

Though I admit, Meisha's abstract thinking in the example above floors me. Yes, she IS off the floor, and expects you to know that. LOL.

Our Julio has come to a method of requesting that the Humans respect his desire the call it a night as compared to just wanting a snack! For sleep he will fly to the floor and request step-up. He will position himself facing me if he is not ready. When ready, he will face away from me, which signals that it lights-out and the door closed!

Unique definitive forms of communication.

When Meisha needs to evacuate at my office, she will either ask for assistance returning to her cage, or she will fly to it herself. She lands on top of the cage and traverses down inside head first. When she enters and steps up to the closest perch, she typically turns around 180° to contain the projectile inside the cage. In hast she will forgo turning around and we end up in a discussion on preventing the mishap. I have her stand close while I perform cleanup.

Moments ago, she flew back to her cage. We reminded her to turn around, twice. She turned around twice. Paused and turn around again before engaging in the function.

A while back after flying to her cage and making her way down, she was reminded to, "turn around." She turned around before entering the cage, going in backwards.

Meisha understood and minimally complied! How could you possibly fault her impeccable logic?!

Epitome of understanding:

Gabby has a humorous evening routine during transition from her primary cage downstairs to sleeping cage in my bedroom. Recognizes cues as I approach, immediately goes to the food dish and "pretend eats" by moving beak through pellets, crunching a few. Then playtime with favorite toy. Next stop the water bowl to splash around, followed by messing with her plastic chain. Sometimes she'll compliantly jump on my hand, other times demands more action. Once I turn off the lights... instantly compliant. All of this follows statuesque demeanor watching us cook, eat, watch T.V.

Julio has an impressive and definitive method for calling it a day.

Meisha's version for a step-up request is to step-up on our foot. One of her responses to a command request to get of the floor is to perform her step-up request.

We have a definitive routine on Meisha's meals. They are served in three courses. She is confined to her cage when eating as she has a tendency to come out before completing a course. When she has completed a course, she doesn't rain-forest scream. She simply says hi. The reflected completion of the last course is followed with me closing it out. It is also a signal to me she wants access, her cage opened with the overhead perches positioned.

About that pretend business, we have a measure to enhance Meisha's water intake. Starts with telling her she looks thirsty, that she should hydrate. Followed with request she should get a drink, "three scoops please." When she falls short, we follow with "that was only two, one more please." She also fakes it, pretending to scoop water, but doesn't, to which we reply, "no faking." The hydration management is particularly useful in getting her to tank-up before a warm weather speed-walk.

Love the "three courses." Conjures a vision of regal parront-servant, dutifully laying out fine linen, impeccably placed utensils, and solemn trotting out daily delicacies! Hoping of course Her Royal Highness is pleased with fine cuisine, constantly evolving, never duplicated.

Interesting point about water. I take for granted they consume sufficient H2O, dependent on whether meal was pellets or chop with high moisture content.

Reports reflect most human adults fail to drink the recommended daily allowance.

I imagine Meisha gets by on her schedule. However she is away from her cage most of the time, in transit to and from work, in different rooms at both the house and the office.

Though infrequent, hydration should be increased when she is with egg. Using the power of suggestion over physically pursuing, is better for both of us.
