They learned to "cough". I was sick for a couple weeks. I'm finally over whatever it was I caught. Now my allergies are out of control! Whenever I cough or sneeze my birds make a coughing or sneezing noise. It was cute and funny the first few days, but after 2 weeks of coughing and sneezing (and shredding my tissues) it got old lol. With the way the pollen is now I'll suffer for a couple more weeks. Nothing I try gives me total relief from allergies. I can breathe, my eyes don't itch, my nose isn't runny, but I cough like crazy.

I hate going to the doctor's office unless I have to because there are always nasty, sick people in there coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths. Rude, rude, rude, rude! I work at a pharmacy so I deal with those same nasty sick people who come in to get their prescriptions and cough all over the stuff they're buying and all over their money. I can't stand parents who don't scold their children for coughing or sneezing without covering. They're just breeding a new generation of rude, gross people. I always got reminded to cover my mouth by both of my parents. Nobody in my house just coughed all over surfaces and into the air. We all covered our mouths. I swear if I could get away with wearing a hazmat suit at work I would. I had somebody today cough not only into their hands on their money and try to hand it to me, but also onto the counter. The money and the counter were visibly wet!!!!!! I just looked at him and told him I didn't have the cash in my drawer to take the Fifty he was trying to give me. (for a $1.49 pack of gum....) He had to dig out his debit card. I wiped down everything after he left. People like him are the reason crap like that spreads. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a germaphobe or anything like that. I don't run around with Lysol and bleach cleaning all surfaces I may touch. I just can't stand people who spread whatever illness they have to others. At least be the polite sick person and wash your hands, not cough on people, and stay home if you're deathly ill!!!!!!

ok, enough ranting from me. :D I just had to share this story with other birdie people who will appreciate it. (instead of looking at me like I've got 3 heads when I say my pet birds mimic my cough)

our whole house has been suffering from that same flu. My hahn's fortunately has not yet learned to cough, but when I lay down to take a nap, or lay back in the recliner he has learned my snoring sound.

lmao, sorry for your plight

keep tissues handy for ppl to cough into (and a bin) and hand sanitizer! and just say *in this!!!! you are right, polite sick ppl, is the way forward, and just coz some1 is sick, it does not give them immunity from manners!!

with saying that i am a firm believer of good bacteria! they keep the pathogenic numbers down :) and most ppl are never as sick as what they make out they are! lol

Last year my wife wanted to get Greybeard checked for a cough, until we realized he was mimicking my cough.

Clever, those birds.

I was rudely awakened about 15 minutes ago by the cement people who are replacing the old beat up sidewalk leading to the front door of my house. Nobody informed me what time they would show up and that the cars needed to be moved. I caught the wrath of that whole fiasco. Between the cars not being moved, the electricity not working and the fact that they thought nobody was home to give them the deposit they were very angry and very rude. My birds were screaming quite loudly as I dealt with these guys (in my zebra striped pajama pants and blue fuzzy flip flops no less) and the man asked me "What the **** is that screaming noise?!" I told him I have pet birds. As soon as I got done explaining that I've got pet birds you could hear Kayak say, more like scream, (from inside the house) "a**hole" quite loudly and very clearly. While I'm proud of the fact that it was stated clearly, I am not proud that it was a curse word. Oh birdies, how I love you. The man was an a**hole. The look on this man's face was priceless. I wish I could share that look with everybody.
