Male Musk Lorikeet - Ozzie
Hello guys,
I have a musk Lorikeet (Ozzie) who I obtained off a breeder who claimed he was hand reared. I have only had him for a short amount of time, approximately 2 weeks but he appears extremely terrified of hands. He acts placant and doesn't fright when I approach him or pass his cage but as soon as My handd get within 5cm's of him he screams and attempts to bite. He sometimes eats from my hand when I leave them there for ages but he is extremely wary and the slightest movement sets off more screeching. I've been attempting to teach him the step up technique but with this fear he has I'm lost as to what to do. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Joseph :green1:

He's scared of you. After only 2 weeks, he doesn't know you are trustworthy or safe. Remember that we are a lot bigger than our birds. How would you feel if a giant put out his hand to pick you up? He doesn't understand (yet) that your intentions are good. You need to give him time and work on letting him get to know that you aren't a threat to him.
