Green-cheek Conure "Mishka" - Sun conure "Calypso"
This weekend the Dude and I met our first Jardines', both Greater and Lesser. Gorgeous birds, very sweet and the Lessers were very playful! Can anyone with first-hand knowledge tell me what it's like being owned by these beauties? I've found conflicting information about the breed when I tried Googling it (perhaps it's the difference between the Greater and the Lesser?) and any first-hand experiences would be greatly appreciated. :)

My little guy is great. He is very sweet and wants to be with a person at all times. He's only somewhat playful though I expect that will increase from what I've read about them. He hasn't gone through the beaky phase that they are famous for yet but I'm not holding my breath that he won't. So far he's nipped me once and that is when I was making him do something he did not want to do. He's a great eater and pretty quiet. His noises are very low and cute sounding. So far, he's a really cool little bird and I'd recommend them to anyone with bird experience. Maybe not a beginner bird. He is a Lesser btw and is about 8 months old.

I would like help too! I just adopted a 2 year old Jardine. Wonderful bird, affectionate, friendly. She bit me at the owner's but not since. She cuddles with me and likes her head scratched. Two things:

1. She won't play... I'm trying to go slow and introduce her to lots of toys. She's afraid of the swing, ladder...

2. She only talks to men!

I have had her only 2 wks. Any suggestions would be great. I had heard how playful Jardine's are, but I see no evidence in this one.

Thanks!

Every bird I have ever owned bit me right off the bat. 2 of which bit me drawing blood in the pet shop, a mitred Conure and a cockatiel.

I would recommend sitting near her cage and just talking to her and reading to her. If you live alone, that is great because she will eventually look at you as being her main flock. But if you share a home with a male member, she will most likely take up with the male eventhough you spend most of your time with her. If she has got a thing for men. I know they say that birds really don't care about genders, but I do beg to differ on that subject.

My little Senegal spends 90% of her day either on me or next to me on her perch. My wife has very little contact with her other than saying a few words to her or giving her a scratch on the head in passing. But yet, if she gets on the floor, and my wife and I are both in the same room, she will go to my wife every time to be picked up. She even does her little skirt dance by dropping her wings down and prancing around all the time cooing any time she gets around my wife.

When we first got her, she did that with me a couple of times, but not nearly to the extent that she does to my wife. Also, If she happens to be on her and I go over to get her off of her hand or shoulder, she will literally bite me. But she won't do this to my wife.

Hi, she hasn't bitten me since I got her home. She cuddles and everything - just not playing. If a male friend visits or my dad she will start talking about everything and rush to them. I'm hoping since it's just me most of the time she'll bond with me. I just need to be patient.
