Teaching macaw to play with toys?

Any recommendations on how to get a BG macaw to play with toys? Our Sammi is doing great! She just doesn't play with toys. We constantly have to entertain her. I've made and bought lots and lots of toys! But she just isn't interested. Any advice?

If she doesn't know how to play then teach her. While she's out make a big deal about them. You spend some time playing with them and let her learn what they are for. Phoebe learned when I would play with a toy and giggle and give it my undivided attention, then act like I was keeping it away from her. Some secret treasure that she doesn't have. Let her interest build to a point and then bring her in on the fun. Tear apart toys and work with them..she'll catch on.

Sit down with the bird on your lap, and play with the bird and the toy...

When the bird starts playing with you and the toy, then just hang it up in the cage. Some birds just have to be taught how to play...
