I just recently started a new part time job, and we sell tea tree facial cleaners (the oil, toner, face/body wash, etc). I know for a fact that it's dangerous as an oil and shouldn't be used around birds, but how dangerous would the face cleanser be? My boyfriend occasionally has break outs, and I thought I'd buy some for him as a random gift. Buuuut we live with the birds, and I don't want to do damage to them just for him to use a product that may or may not work.

Has anyone ever used it safely as a facial cleanser around birds before? Or would the general consensus be a big no-no?

I use a lot of essential oils on myself and in my home. I use tee tree oil and have had no problems. I just make sure it's soaked in/absorbed or rinsed off before I let the birds near that area which I have used the oil.

I do use a brand that is tested and re-tested and proven to be 100% pure therapeutic grade, so that is the only caution I would advise.

I think as long as your boyfriend was sure to rinse very well and give it a little time (or only use it at bedtime after he is done interacting with the birds) it would be OK.

Thanks Amanda! I was thinking the same thing since it would be a night time regime. I think I'll go ahead and get some for him and we'll just be diligent with it :)
